GMT BLNR Shopping Update

Ok. I wanted to provide an update to my previous post
1. I went to my preferred AD today and still no watch. I knew this was the case because he would have contacted me, but I wanted to talk in person. He could not guarantee when the watch would arrive, but said he would take care of me when it arrives. He knew I wanted to watch before x-mas.

So, I picked up the phone and called two other local AD's and both had the Watch in-stock!

2. Went to 2nd AD and they recently received the watch. They offered 5% discount right off the bat. I said I had to think about because I was torn about purchasing outside my AD. Also, thinking I could get a better price.

3. Went to 3rd AD and they showed me the watch. They had a special situation and realized the watch was Sold, but another one was arriving. It could be coming in the afternoon or another day. All I had to do was pay in full. They offered 24 months of free financing which was interesting, but No discount. My thought is I fully pay for a watch that does not exist, so no go. Call me when a non-sold watch comes in.

All will ship the watch out of state.

I am leaning toward #2. If I get a better price it is a no-brainer.

I understand the thought of being loyal to the original AD but sometimes it's not a bad idea to have relationships with a few in your area.

5% off a BLNR with shipping out of state is pretty good for a new customer. If you have the money ready I'd go get it.

24 months no interest financing is good too, can't argue with that. That's under $380 a month.

Maybe a hard decision or not!
I have not bought enough to get close to a preferred AD so #2 is my choice.
However, even with that said, lets say you stay with choice #1, he may be your preferred dealer but he has no idea when you will get a watch and also its a full price purchase.
Even for me in the UK, a 5% discount is worth £310 or there about.
So, your decision, should you choose to make it, (lol), stick with an AD and spend more money or get a nice discount.
I think its time to jump AD's.

5% discount on the BLNR is actually pretty good deal. I vote #2.

Its a no brainer. Loyalty gets you nowhere nowadays, so this is my thought:

1) Call your #1 AD and tell him the situation. Tell him you can get a 5% discount on this #2 AD and ask him what he can do for you. If he says nothing, then obviously go to #2 AD.

2) Go straight to #2 AD and tell him you have an offer FROM # 3 for 24 mos financing and this "$$$" price. Ask him if he can match it.

Yes, its so nice to get a Rolex for Xmas, but don't let that cloud your judgement...:)
TYhere is STILL New Year's day..:)

If it were me, I would go to 24 mos financing interest free, its almost free money which you can use to invest somehwere else. 5% discount does not really amount to much, for me at least..:)

#2 and you'd better get on it, because they no doubt have offered the same deal to others.

BLNR Purchased!

Easy transaction at #2. I probably could have got another percent point off, but feel good about the price. Another bonus is the owner is a single mom in my town so everything stays local. Also, no charge for shipping.

I am only going to post a single picture until I pickup the watch next week in NY. I am excited and happy the transaction is done, and now I have a new Rolex relationship. Time to update insurance policy.

5% off a new BLNR with no sales tax is already $200 cheaper than what DavidSW offers for a new one. Congrats on your pick-up!

^Stores can get in a lot of trouble for doing that apparently. People used to ship the old Rolex in the box and wear the new one home.

Congratulations on the BLNR and the discount! Very hard to get on that watch.

Yes, within 15 miles of my house there were 3 available in-stock. Just a matter of calling around because 3 stores I called did not have one in stock.

I got 7% so even a better deal. The one I saw online from DavidSW was only 2%.

Having a purchasing relationship with multiple ADs can help when new models like the 116500 come out. Many ADs will not put you on that kind of list if you have not previously purchased from them. That being said, I always give my preferred ADs first shot at my business.
