Hulk, Smurf, P.....
Who makes these names up?
Does it not put any of you off? – or is it just me? I fancy a Green SubC but really hate the idea of knowing it is nicknamed a Hulk! Same with a Smurf – but that is an even worse name!! I read a thread on here earlier that my real favourite is being called a ‘Daisy’ which I suppose is better than a pansy but it’s still not good. Being as I can’t get hold of a daisy I may have to look for a Blnr or has that also got a nickname? |

Yeah...sorry, they do have a name for the BLNR.
What is a daisy, by the way? |

Like you, I'm not wearing anything that folks refer to with Comic Book names or "bruiser", that sounds like a restraining order in the making.

See my avatar. That's what I call it. You can call it whatever you want.

I don't see what the big deal is. Buy the watch, wear the watch, call it what you want.

Well, only a Pansy A$$ AD would call the White Daytona C a Daisy! although Stormtrooper I guess I could live with! However, I just call it a White Daytona 500...which seems fitting on pretty much every level!!!

Pepsi, Coke, Root Beer, Batman, Fat Lady, Pussy Galore - just for GMTs. Smurf, Kermit, Hulk - just for the Sub...oh, excuse me, I mean Sub Date. Some people take offense at that as well.
For no valid reason I'm more accepting of the nicknames that were here before me. The ones trumped up in the "Nickname the New Watch" threads not so much. It is what it is. I call 'em what I want and give others the right to do the same. Life's too short.

Hulk, Smurf, P.....
There are dozens of different informal monickers used for both Vintage and Modern Rolex, PP, AP, Omega, etc.
I'd get over it in a New York minute for the watch I want. Can you imagine anyone eschewing a beautiful '32 Ford because someone called it "Little Deuce Coupe"? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

x2....guys I am not the biggest fan of the nick names but honestly it does not bother me one bit! Its just a nick name for a bit of fun! If a nick name is going to "throw you off Rolex for life" then that's just silly...now if you are asking my opinion on which iced out "rollie" you should buy I may cringe a little

I think the nicknames are helpful for those who don't know 166000, 16670, 1623278, 8009976, etc. all the model number are gibberish to some, so as cheesy as they may be to others, it helps identify the watch being discussed.
Why cartoon characters? couldn't tell you. What else I guess... make a suggestion. |

I don't see anything wrong with the nicknames, it a lots easier remembering the nicknames than remembering the model number. If you are not cool with the name rename it or stick to the model numbers

I just use the model numbers. If you hang out long enough then you'll learn all the numbers.

Calling a BLNR Batman is the same as calling a Day Date a President, but no one complains about that!

Doesn't bother me. They're generally descriptive and ease discussion. Now if they were official that would be different, but for informal monikers they work for me

I prefer using the model numbers but nicknames don't stop me from appreciating the brand.
When I bought the BLNR thins past fall, the AD kept referring to it as the Batman. I kept using BLNR, it was one of those .. Who's going to blink first conversations |

Not too crazy with nickname myself. In my writing, I always use LV, LVC, BLRO, LN...extra to clarify which one I am talking about.

I don't mind the nicknames, maybe it's just a nice balance here between use of model numbers and silly nicknames, where you can kinda tell people are knowledgeable.
the only nicknames I dislike are "Rollie" and "Pressie" |

The guy I always speak to at Rolex Schiphol is also familiar with these names. Popped in last week and he tells me as I approach the cabinets ' sorry no batman today but I do have a pepsi white'
It's easier than numbers. |
