My Cabin Air Filter

Guys.... really? It's Saturday afternoon.... New Year's Eve.... Now it makes perfect sense someone like me, with absolutely NO life whatsoever... has nothing better to do then look at a thread entiteled "My cabin air filter" But all of YOU guys!?!? With family.. and friends... and a life?

Well, since you did, here is my cabin filter, I just replaed it with a K and N I got for Christmas. My car is less then two years old and I couldn't believe how dirty the filter was! It is worse then it looks in the picture, so I highly recommend everyone go get their cabin air filter replaced.

I made a deal with the mods.... all of you will be eligible to get your click back for looking at this thread.

My dealer wanted $70 to replace mine the last time my car was in for service. I bought a new one on Amazon for $12.

Well, Paul, you are my virtual family. That alone is enough of a reason to look at this thread.

That is pretty typical, you can buy them cheap and it took me about 10 minutes to install mine.

What kind of car? I don't think it's a 10 minute project on my Porsche.

you should change the in cabin filter every 12 months. And since they are easy to replace and you can get OEM replacements cheap, it is worth doing.

Being OCD, I track my mileage religiously, and I DID see an increase of almost 3% after installing my K and N engine air filter. That was a sample time of six months as compared to the previous six months with the stock filter.

As for the CABIN air filter, I can't really measure it I guess, but the last couple days I would say the air flow IS better. Could just be since the old one was so dirty, or it could all be in my Dorklehead imagination too

A good call on your part as a dirty air filter often leads to the fuel mixture running a bit 'rich' (which in turn leads to reduced MPG). Hopefully your air flow meter on the fuel injection system is operating properly. When those things start misbehaving, gas consumption can go way up (in addition to this component being somewhat expensive to replace).

My ignorance MonBK. For some reason, I thought it was a contemporary name for the ubiquitous automotive air filter. Gonna go out to the garage and have a look at my cabin filter. It probably needs replacement as well.

I don't believe you have no "life". And it saddens me that you say this. You are just too nice of a guy.

Tell you what...come love to NJ. We will be buds.

And that filter is gross dude.
