SD4000 for me, the case looks a bit thinner than Sub-C which is better in proportion for me.

i'd stick with the 116610LN. cleaner + thinner + better looks for a sports watch compared to the SDc (IMHO).
if you have an "SD itch" to scratch, i'd look for one with lug holes. |

I just sold my sd4k for a used 16520. I loved the SD, just got bored with it and its somehow decreasing value. Overall I'd have to say my favorite of the sub/seadweller line in the end is a sub no date...but mainly because it's as classic as classic gets...I actually liked the extra height of the SD however...

SD4K is the best looking modern Rolex, IMO. That being said, it is too top heavy for me. Just can't get the right fit / make it comfortable for a daily. If it fits, go for it!!!

As one who owns neither, I'd spend my money on the sd400 before I bought a sub. I don't have any dislike for the sub, but it's certainly more common. The sd4000 loses the cyclops but retains the date. Plus it's just a bit more robust. It's a win win especially if you find a deal on a used one. You can always buy or replace a sub they are all over the place.

I preferred my SD4KC to my SubC, primarily because of the case difference, particularly because of the smaller lugs on the SD. However over time, I flipped my ceramic models entirely in favor of the 5-digit reference models.

I tried on the SubC and SubC no date but couldn't quite get over the relatively squareness of the Sub. It just looked "big" Ironically, I also have the BLNR, which supposedly has the same case size and maxi dial as the SubC, but I don't notice the squareness of it so much. Perhaps the bi-color bezel somehow optically breaks up the "square"? No idea but I love my BLNR. So....SD4K over the Sub for me!! |

Sub C or Sea Dweller C4000? - People over the Dweller?
I see people here saying the SD4k is a "better watch"..
Movement is 3135 so not much difference there. It can go deeper. Yes. Are you a diver ? Do you go beyond what the Sub can take you ? A couple of practical (not hypothetical) aspects to consider. - Extra heft - Extra thickness - Extra small effort to check the date without cyclops (if you dont have "young eyes") Those are practical things that youd have to deal with everyday. On the other hand, with the sub youd have to slow down your daily diving to 1000 feet. Everyone should have both. But having to choose one. Go sub and add the other later. PS: Putting one against the other is such a torture. Cause we all here love both. Id call it the "Sophie's Choice" thread. |
