I called the AD the day it was announced, 3rd on the list. Spoken a week ago and still 3rd on the list, they say they have received none. This is a capital city AD, I call BS but nothing you can do. Would love to get hold of actual figures of watches delivered to each AD by Rolex, now that would be highly sought after! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Rolex must know serial numbers and where they were sent to so it wouldn't take 5 mins to find out that AD's are guilty of back door trade or not. It's pretty obvious that there is no interest in doing so as it is creating desire come what may.
Seems to me though that most of the Daytona C inventory is at grey and now aptly termed black market dealers sat in safes. The problem of course now is that anyone who does get one at list realises that it's worth 5k more if unworn and flips it to one of the above dealers. It's unfortunately a no win if you would just like a watch to wear and enjoy UNLESS money is not an issue. |

Rolex are to blame here, they should check the stock, even if by buying in the secondary market at grey dealers and making an example of a few ADs by removing authorisation or stock. A few news stories later you would get one at an AD at retail rather than 5k above at a grey dealer.

Rolex are already not a particularly 'easy' company to deal with....I really hope they sort this out and do not repeat it with future releases? |

My Rolex AD here in Jakarta will sell me one but at roughly 50% premium over msrp. Nice watch but for me not a must-have. Actually, I think it's overhyped.

As I have mentioned before.
Unfortunately we want products NOW, and don't want to wait. Patience was never my strong point when I lived in my "birth" country. Having lived "away" for a number of years it has taught me, i have to wait. I had to wait 6 months for a car here, when in other parts of Europe I could have walked into a showroom, bought it immediately, and even obtained a discount. Would I wait for a Daytona C if I didn't have one?, yeah probably, it ain't my only watch. I suppose the more that "drop out" - those who wait and have a good relationship with their AD will get one quicker......... But hey.....who knows? |

Exactly what I did only it was my first AP. I talked with my AD multiple times about the new Daytona, but never even received a call when they came in. I really wanted to see them in person. They are still pissed I bought my Platona from someone else. Oh well, they're loss. I'm LOVING my AP.

While a few rogue ADs may be selling directly to resellers at inflated prices I think the majority are selling to customers, and it is they who simply can't resist an easy profit and flip to a reseller.

Maybe the ADs are on a waiting list themselves. I am sure Rolex has the ADs prioritized relative to yearly revenue.

Had it with the Daytona C
Thanks to all that overhyped steel and ceramic Daytonas, I was able to get my grail for $12k brand new (MSRP $18k). Again, thank you.
If I break it down it does not make sense: 1. 18k Gold bezel cheaper than ceramic 2. SS bracelet with 18k gold PCLs cheaper that SS with SS PCL. 3. 4130 movement on SS case more expensive that 4130 movement on TT case 4. New TT Panda Daytona cheaper than used SS 116520 Daytona. Really? This is a great economics case study. Again, I get all the hype, but I don't know... the new SS ceramic Daytona does not have the same presence as a TT or Gold Daytona. It is very much a sports watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I fell in love, asked them if they ever sell pre-owned ones. They don't and I told her I might look for a slightly used one. She completely understood, and when I got one from DSW, she immediately invited me to the store to help fit it. Very cool. I told her I was going to keep my deposit and take delivery when the SS one came in, as I wanted to give her business. She said I could do anything I wanted with it -- keep it, sell it to a friend, flip it -- as it would be my watch. She couldn't have been nicer. Anyway, a different approach....

I was also number 2 but got mine back in June.....the dealer has only had 1 other white since then and they are a Rolex boutique so it is possible your dealer literally hasn't had 1 for you yet.
Hang in there as it is an absolute stunner. |

Surely all ADs had waiting lists for the previous, now discontinued SS Daytonas? I assume the people on the previous list remain top for the new Ceramic Bezel SS Daytonas, rather than wiped off entirely. So those saying they called the day it was announced would be second after all the people on the previous list have gotten a SS Daytona. Can't imagine many would be happy if you were on the list 3 years ago for one and it got a facelift therefore tough luck.

Big companies can make mistakes. Just look at the auto industry. Maybe Rolex underestimated the response to this watch. If it's priced right with a good margin for profit, they would be stupid not to make as many as they can "while the iron is hot". I really don't understand the craze myself.

A lengthy wait time certainly takes the 'shine' off of the watch for me. The hunt for most things is usually the enjoyable part but it's quite the opposite with Rolex

If you don't think there isn't an AD with at least a few of these sitting in their safe then you're fooling yourself. The watch is hot and most dealers are going to dole them out to the clients that they get the most return on, just like any smart business would. The watches started shipping in May, do you really think there are dealers that have only received none, or just a couple, since?

This is actually one thing Rolex could do to settle down some of the furore; have all ADs across the world sell at retail ie the same price. Again ten years ago this was OK and a local issue, but with social media and the international forums this just fuels more angst against the brand.

I was wondering if you put any deposit for getting a number? I've heard people being given false promises since they juat expresses their interest but did not put any money down. Would that be a possibility?

It is a hot item. You have to pay to play.
Even if you can source one at MSRP, you have 'paid' already by previously spending good money at AD. (I am in this camp) For those that just walked out with one at MSRP with no prior purchase history, I'd say that is a miracle and the watch God is watching over you. |
