Gray Tapestry Dial DJ

How long were these made for? I dunno why but all of a sudden I can't get one off my mind and want one but don't know when they were made, I know late 80's for sure but were they ever made in the Luminova days?

Thanks in advance!

I like them as well. This is a 3035 movement from a 5 digit ref which started about '77. There are at least two shades of gray, this is the darker one. I have a case for this one just haven't gotten around to it. :)

I have a black one. My watch is an '85 DJ. I think I got my jeweler friend to get someone to swap in the Tapestry around 2 or 3 years later.

Apparently Tapestry dials were made until 2005; Luminova was introduced I believe in 1998 and was used into 2000 when Superluminova was introduced. My champagne tapestry dial has Tritium.

I am a big fan of subtle intricacy. I like it in fabrics, that look solid from a distance, but have some neat design when you are close enough to see the detail, and I like it on this dial. I still think it looks better than the solid dials and doesn't look dated to me at all.

Not such a fan of some other Rolex dials with crazy patterns however.

My T series 16203 from 1996. Of my 3 Rolex timepieces, the 16203 was my first and remains my personal favorite in my rotation. The TT is very versatile while the tapestry dial remains timeless. Truly understated elegance.
