Boxes....they are a changin....

Per my AD yesterday, Rolex sent out a notice this week to stop the use of, mark, and destroy all warranty card/manual holders. So for the foreseeable future anyone who picks up a new watch will be getting lose cards/manuals. Now this isn't a big deal but does show that during a senior management meeting the topic of documentation barely fitting in the box popped up, some kid at hq who was probably In their first meeting ever pipped up with "um.....why dont we just get rid of the sleeves?" Apparently the whole box and card issue fitment has been a bit of a pain for Rolex mostly because it is the one thing they do not make..... here's to hoping for a more well designed presentation package in the future... maybe they'll take a page from Patek's book minus the rare woods? Who knows....

the documentation fits just fine in the box, can't see any problem with mine. However, i dislike the fact that when closed, the box pushes a bit on the watch. Should have been spacious enough to not allow that

Well it's true that with the sleeve it's a tight fit getting it into the box.
I've also noticed that the green tone on the latest boxes is different. It's brighter.

Evolve or die...not sure that applies well to watch boxes

Interesting but makes sense. Not an issue for the mid size and large boxes though.

Personally I prefer the older boxes anyway, a little green leather and wood box with a cushion was great, even if you had to sandwich your paperwork between that and the outer box. Never liked the new ones.

Get the Omega carpenters making the Rolex boxes already.

Worst boxes I've seen age are the red leather/vinyl omega from the early 2000s - mine basically self-destructed. Maybe on purpose, keeping with the whole bond theme? ;) Their new ones seem much nicer.

It's an odd one. Presentation makes a massive difference to me, on anything, as I believe in attention to detail on almost everything.

A lot of other brands clearly put on more thought and effort in to thier watch boxes. Patek is in a different league, Omega, and even Breitling, I believe, have great looking and quality boxes.

Saying that, Rolex boxes are great, and there is something I'm not sure i can describe that makes them exciting. I know that I'll probably sound a little bizarre given that they are quite plain in comparison to some others, but I don't think I would change them.

Ok. I believe that it will be followed up at some point in the near future with a new system that matches the Rolex brands build quality on the watches. Nothing cheap about the brand and in todays luxury world it is all about the complete package.

I never bothered to fit the wallet IN the green watch box; instead, much easier to place on top of the green box when placed inside the outer box and just put the lid on top.
