RIP - Mary Tyler Moore

Mary Tyler Moore, whose witty and graceful performances on two top-rated television shows in the 1960s and ’70s helped define a new vision of American womanhood, died on Wednesday in Greenwich, Conn. She was 80.

Minneapolis is very sorry to see her go. Her passing is the headline in the local paper this afternoon. There is a bronze statue of her at Nicollet mall, where she threw her hat in the air during the show's original intro.

The house that was shown on TV STILL gets tourist gawkers driving and walking by. Known by locals as the "Mary Tyler Moore" house.

RIP, and thanks for helping put Minneapolis on the map. (Only the intro and outside shots were filmed in MPLS, of course).

What a loss. And only 80? Very young to go.

She will be missed.

I still remember that Dick Van Dyke show episode where she revealed that Alan Brady wore a toupee. Carl Reiner was hilarious in reacting to Laura. Remember him picking up the phone--one of the best moments of that series. MTM won an Emmy on that one.

I really enjoyed most everything she did. I even think the Elvis movie she was in was pretty good.
