Daytona-C article in WatchTime

Just read the DaytonaC article in the recent WatchTime release, and a bit confused with their reference to the improvements made in the folding bar part of the clasp to make it less prone to causing scratches.

I don't have my watch with me at the moment to compare it to my 116520 but can anyone shed some light on this?
I don't quite understand the details behind it, but does the new folding bar not open as far back touching the bracelet to cause scratches? The folding bar (or lock) on my 116520 does touch the bracelet when fully opened causing a straight line scratch mark on the polished part of the bracelet, if that's the scratch they are referring to.

This is the first time I am hearing anything about such an improvement and do not recall any threads discussing this matter.

Spooky...I literally just put down the magazine / finished the same article and saw this thread.

That said, this is the first I've heard of the new clasp.

The 116500 is my first Rolex, so I am still learning about it.
I noticed the very same when taking the watch on and off...
The buckle leaves no scratches... It's crazy.

Don't know what they're talking about, all of my modern Rolex with this type of clasp are all scratched in the same spot from opening the flip lock (Including my 116500)

Here's the clasp on my 116520 that's about 2 years old. In the WatchTime picture, it appears that the "ears" or "wings" of the safety bar are shorter. Compare with mine, where they're even with the far edge of the clasp.

How does this prevent scratches? No idea. It would seem to just change the pivot point of the safety bar so that the scratches would be closer to the clasp. But who knows; I'm certainly no expert.

What do you see different than the pic in the article?

The end of the flip lock hinges in line with the clasp

I'm interested to know how Rolex changed the flip lock to not scratch the bracelet as well

It looks like a piece of the plastic it comes wrapped in. It appears added on. My Daytona C delivered in Dec. does not look like pic, my C clasp looks just like my non C Daytona.

The new design has a shorter polished centre on the flip lock where the crown is, so when opened it will hit the brushed sides of the bracelet link not the polished centre link.

It may also not open as far.?

One of my pet peeves on the GMT IIc PCL getting whacked everytime the clasp is opened. I ended up putting a thin later of transparent tape over that area to stop the scratches

I still have not had the time to check my DaytonaC yet due to prior commitments over the weekend.
This article is still bugging the heck out of me since I want to get down to the bottom of this. Not that it really matters but it's in my nature to fulfill my curiosity

So far, from other DaytonaC owners I notice no difference. Do more of the owners mind chiming in?

Yeh the new Daytona clasp now has a straight edge compared to a slightly
Curved clasp on the previous model.
Where the curve is on the pcl this would be the point of contact to the other pcl
On the bracelet, making more Scratches.
The crown is larger too On the new model

Different clasp in pic definitely,
But I prefer old clasp, grey dealer said this to me but I can't see the scratch thing myself?
Anyway it's a watch I say just wear and enjoy!
Old clasp no scratches on mine

My 2012 GMT IIc has the same clasp, it hits the PCL when I carefully open it leaving this mark
