I would sell the Sub. You can always get that LV later. The Explorer is from your girlfriend and I agree with others here, you can't sell that. But I would definately take some of your savings to buy that watch. That's why it's called savings. YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE.....Good luck.

I say buy the keep the Daytona - as you will aways get your money back,if not a bit more.
Keep the Explorer, as your G/F bought it for you. And sell the LV Sub

Hmm, tough dilemma...some really good thoughts and advice....If your relationship is that good with your AD, would they be willing to allow a no interest finance option? That may make it a bit easier....I would hang onto the watches from your girlfriend since it's rare to have an object of desire also be an object of affection! As has been said here by others, it won't go down in value or get any cheaper....That's what made my decision to pop for the new GMT recently a bit easier....Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Since you've already bought the Daytona, then sell the one that had the opposite color dial, unless you have alot of sentimental value for either one.

If it was me, I would jump all over it if I didn't already have a SS Daytona. I would not dip too much into your personal savings, especially in this economy. That would leave you with about $10,000 left. Is that enough? You just never know. I am just trying to play devils advocate. Disclaimer: I am a Daytona lover and already have one.

Daytonas are not going to get cheaper. If it's a watch you've wanted for 12 years.....
I realize it's a sizeable amount, but how old are you? Whats your income potential etc.... As a WIS it sounds like a well balanced collection--Dual timezone, diver, chrono, and vintage. Quite a collection. If I had to move one it would be the vintage piece. The key is not fall into the trap of the "next geewhiz" thing and take a hit on re-selling. Let time work for you. |

I picked it up today from the dealer...love it! Like many others here, I'm really bummed the Daytonas don't have the date. I guess on the days I wear it I'll have to make note of the date first thing in the morning. I don't think I'll sell any of the collection. None of them are going to really decrease in value any more than today and I'm fine financially so I'll keep them as material assets. It's surreal wearing it...I'm sure that'll wear off...maybe not... By the way, I have several jobs, I do TV commercials and I'm an apartment manager. I bet I'm one of the only apartment managers wearing one of these...

I've noticed some Daytonas that have red in them. Mine has a black dial with the word "Daytona" in red...what's the difference between this and the others that have red in the smaller dials?

I realize the OP already bought it, so congrats to him!
But my thinking on the matter is that if it takes a couple years or more to save $20,000, then I would not spend half of it on a watch. But if it takes less than 2 years to save $20k, then DO IT! |

From what I see is you don't really need to sell anything right now. Jus keep all of what you have plus Daytona. You still have half of your saving account left. If you sell what ever now. And later on, you want to buy it back again. You will have to spent more money than what you got from selling now. You can alway sell it when you are really need the money.
