Probably not. I mean the only thing I like is the red lettering IF it were to happen, but I truly appreciate the current 116600 I have. Clean, timeless look; don't know if just some red paint could make it any better...

first off: its a short run 30 months as some other member said.
second: its case with the shorter lugs is not shared with any other model(please correct me if i am wrong) so its stands on its own,it has presence. submariner shares case with gmt master II third: submariners are more common but sea dwellers are more rare in the wild. they can look alike at a glance but a true enthusiast knows and gives the nod. just my 3 cents. i will not be selling mine though it did cross my mind to fund for another watch. |

I'd consider switching for a slightly bigger case (41-42 mm) as long as they kept overall proportions the same. The smaller lugs are what drew me to SD4K in the first place and everything about this watch is already almost perfect. I think any new release of the Sea-Dweller would be a tough sell for current owners.

I won't be selling mine. I might add unless they enlarge it. It's the perfect size IMO.

Current Sea Dweller owners - what would make you switch?
My SD4K would be the last watch standing in my lot if it came down to it.
I'd possibly add a newer, different version, but I dig the current one a lot. |

Red lettering, tick marks on bezel reduced to the 15 minute mark...

Doubt I will sell my sd4k but could be tempted to add another SD; 41mm, added space at lugs to slide a NATO, domed crystal, lose white gold surrounds, lug holes, increase brightness of luminosity, offer rubber dive strap.

I like it the way it is.
The only thing holding me back (apart from the similarity to my GMTIIc) is that it rides a little high on the wrist. Not a big issue, but if 42mm or a flatter case back could lower this I would be more tempted. Domed crystal like the Deepsea could also be an improvement, but I'd have to handle it to be sure. I don't get lugholes. They are a historical throw back which does nothing to improve the look. (Awaits flaming) |

Nothing would entice me to sell. For me, the current Sea Dweller is perfect.

I'm sure I'll want the next Sea-Dweller... but I doubt I'd sell the current one.

I think the reasoning is that the higher depth rating means that (if you use it) a longer than 15 minute decompression stop is required when surfacing and in order to do that accurately you need the 60 minute markers.
But as there are only 3 tick marks per 5 minutes between 15 and 55 it's not a perfect argument, although you could probably work out the ticks either side of 20/30/40/50. |

Mechanical watches are a historical throwback, which is why I always laugh about "improvements" in newer models. Either way, lug holes are as functional today as they were 20 years ago.

I would stick with the sea dweller you have a red one would be nice but if it comes out everyone is going to want one and in 10-20 years time your one will be the one to have, only my opinion but that's how I see it going personally. Keep your one, it's a beautiful watch and the most stunning diver Rolex make

1. The changes would have to make the new SD noticeably different like the Sub LV, completely different color dial or bezel.
2. Stay the same dimensions. 3. Come with at least 15-20% discount like the current model.

Oh and I'm still keeping what I have, I would only consider adding.

Why does everyone keep saying they want the SD4K to be made into a 42mm? The biggest complaint about the new Explorer 2 is that its too big on wrist and everyone wants it back in the 40mm case. Plus everyone moans the SD4K sits too thick as is so what they would make of it at 42mm I don't know. I think the watch is dimensionally perfect as it is and is worth every penny.
