Black Sub as a graduation gift for myself?

I always liked watches and have been trying different watches on my wrist when i am at the airports abroad. Rolex has grown on me. I tried GMT batman and Black Sub (116610LN )last year at Heathrow Airport and I have been thinking about the Sub the whole year. To me, I like sub better because it's more elegant and the numbers on the bezel are smaller.

I am graduating this May and I am traveling to Netherland. The price there after the tax return is good. Should I get it or wait for another couple years when I can afford the New Daytona.

Thanks a lot

Absolutely get it. I got the black Sub date when I got married and had it for 10 years. Never once did I regret owning it. You can always add the Daytona later. Life is too short!

Do it! Look a 14060M or a 114060.

I agree with the guys above. Get it as it is a fantastic first Rolex whther it be the 114060, 116610 or 116610LV. The BLNR is also very elegant. The Sub is more versatile perhaps.

Get the Sub. You'll never regret ownership.
Trade up to a Daytona later if you want.

Get the Sub now and enjoy it. By the time the hype on the Daytona-C dies down you can pick it up and have a nice two watch collection.

That's a fantastic present, did that myself as well.

Sub's are great, some may say the best rolex, I say go for it, buuut go for the Hulk, a special watch for a special occasion. There will always be time for SS Daytonas, but a Green Sub is a special thing.

Save your money, get a job, buy a house, get married, have kids, save up for retirement and then when you're all set and have no financial worries, buy an expensive watch.

Get the watch after you receive your post graduation full time offer. If you were already made an offer then graduation date is absolutely perfect!

I am all for recognizing life's milestones but, as MJB said, make sure that now is the right time financially. There are major expenses around the corner and preparing for them must come first.

With all of that being said, if money is not an issue you cannot do better for your first Rolex than a Submariner (114060)

I would contact a couple of ADs in advance to make sure they have one. You can actually pay for it in advance, and you have 3 months to leave the country and claim the tax-free, if I remember correctly (do check it out first).

But yes, a Submariner 114060 is THE perfect gift to yourself.

To me graduation is a time for focusing on things other than a luxury item, but to each his/her own. Call me old fashioned!
