"Omani" Supply

In the last year there seems to have been a marked increase of the availability of Omani Rolexes at both auctions and at dealers. These watches have engraved case backs with the famous Omani seal that used to be placed on the dials of the watch. The old Omani dials are grails for many, myself included. I was wondering if anyone had a theory as to why so many omani engraved watches (supposedly a gift from the Sultan) have surfaced lately. I have long been a sucker of "issued" and "engraved" Rolexes so I was curious as to why these have been popping up so much. Thanks guys.

Due to the monetary value of these Omani watches and other Middle Eastern countries (see GCC) - a lot of these watches have resurfaced.
Dealers and collectors, as well as auction houses are crazy about them; and in recent years, prices for such watches (mostly logo dials) have skyrocketed.

With that being said, it is much easier to engrave a caseback (any engraver can reproduce a perfect ‘Khanjar’ (the Omani coat of arm) - It is much harder to produce a perfect Qaboos signature or/and a Khanjar on a dial, many have tried most have not succeeded.
