DateJust 41 different than DJ II?
I went by the Rolex AD in Newport Beach, CA the other day to look at Datejusts and the AD employee told me there is no difference between DJ II and DJ 41 other than different configurations that are available.
He said they are the exact same with the exception of SS is called DJII, and the TT's are called DJ 41. I thought there was differences in bezel and hour marker sizing as well. Right? Please don't tell me I have this wrong. Just when I thought I was getting a grip on the Rolex world. |

Well, you found an AD employee to avoid in the future! You are correct in your belief that the DJII and DJ41 are different. Take a look at the photos and descriptions of the two watches on the Rolex website (Rolex.com). You will have to compare the "two-tone" DJ41 with the SS DJII for the time being, since the SS DJ41 has not yet been released, but it is suspected that the SS DJ41 will be announced at the 2017 Baselworld. The DJ41 is the replacement for the DJII.

Send a link to this thread to his email so he can be educated, hard to believe a Rep at an AD would be so clueless and I would question his representing the AD and Rolex. |

Wow, I had no idea they were that different. Diff movements. I'm relieved I was correct. I knew absolutely nothing about Rolex three months ago and I thought I was finally getting a clue. I was about to be really frustrated. I actually am going to try and send a copy to the store through their contact page online. It was the Rolex store in the Fashion Island mall in Newport Beach. |

There is a YouTube video that compares both side by side.

To me the the fluted bezel is not so obvious in the DJ41 compared to the DJII. It just looks like a big brother to the DJ36. Would consider the SS41 if it comes out.

Well, to the non-WIS population, I'm sure there isn't a lot of difference between the two...but to me, it's almost like two totally different watches.
IMO, the case, bezel, and stick dials of the DJ41 are done to sheer perfection. |

Yeah I have found the same. An AD in Miami asked me if I worked for Rolex because I "knew so much about the brand." I didn't really think I knew that much at all but apparently she thought I did lol. |

If I'm Rolex I DON'T come out with the DJ41 in SS and make everyone buy as many two tone as possible before coming out with a stainless version. If they are smart they'd come out with a full PM version. 5 years from now they can come up with a ss and people will snap it up - but in the meantime they can $$$ on the PM.
Think about it for a second - i read posts where people can't get a stainless steel sub, let alone the hunt for BLNR's and the waiting list for Daytona C- why throw another stainless watch in the mix? You know you're ALSO not getting a coke gmt in stainless steel. Uh uh. Lastly, I'm re-reading the measurements on the DJ41 and someone showing it at 39mm? Guys, that's a goof. You were trolled. In my safe, in my watch box I have them lined up and from GMTC to RG Daytona (same) and to DJ41 then to Explorer 2 you can see the 40mm, 41mm, 42m transition. Perhaps chalk that one up to fake news. Go with what Rolex tells you, not the guy with the broken thing that measures watch case sizes. Of course, my own opinion, based on actually owning a dj41. |

Think if you see them side by side the bezel on the DJII is marginally bigger and to my mind, unbalances the look of the watch, much like on the DD2

Oh I totally agree a non-Rolex or even a non-DJ enthusiast might look at the two models and fail to notice a difference in appearance; they are very similar. But a ROLEX AD REPRESENTATIVE telling a potential customer they are the same watch, when there ARE differences and a BRAND NEW MOVEMENT is totally unaceptable in my book.

Rolex can wait as long as they want, even 5 or ten years, I will never buy a TT DJ41 nor a Pm DJ41. But I'll buy the SS DJ41 as soon as I can get it from my AD ...
