I've never thought much of the Air King.

Yeah, a lot of people don't like the AK series. They say it's too small and too plain. For the owners, though, the uncluttered dial, plain styling and 34mm sizing are precisely the things that attracted them to it.
The AK's probably the only line here where the reason is the same whether you like it or not. |

I simply find the Air-King a little un-inspiring, despite the fact that it a classic and very fine watch.
I am not keen on the Day Date. I think the day window looks disproportionate. I don't like the mid-size DJ as a man's watch. I can't justify the existence of the Date alongside the better DJ. But, these are all superb watches - just not my favourites in an exceptional line up. |

I try and disassociate the concepts of hate/dislike -and- wouldn't buy. I don't dislike any of them. There are some, however, that I wouldn't buy. They're all fine watches...

I would say the one I am least likely to buy (as opposed to any issue of disliking) is a diamond encrusted platinum Day-Date or a YM-II.

this is a tough one because it's hard to pick an entire line that i don't like. picking specific models is a lot easier though.
the gmt-ice, leopard and other members of the rolex liberace line don't do it for me. not a fan of the air-king, ym2 or explorers either. some of the dials they're using on the dj watches aren't real inspiring but i wouldn't eliminate the whole line. the dssd is getting a lot of criticism but i'm looking forward to seeing one on my wrist! |

I don't understand why the Air King gets such little love, outside of the low cost. I went to a Ben Bridge and was asking to look at various models, and when I asked to see an Air King, the sales rep told me I don't want an Air King, I should go for a Date Just instead. Are they to Rolex what the Boxster is to Porsche? No respect?

Both the AK and Explorer have long, rich histories. Trends and fashions change, they don't represent new and exciting but old and traditional. Considering a lot of the recent Rolex designs, I'm not so sure that's a bad thing... IIRC, the AK is the least expensive of the lot. Inherently, there's baggage that goes with that.

New Yachtmasters. Boy, somebody was tipping the bottle too much at lunch the day they approved that thing. Then again, maybe somebody got the boss loaded on purpose so he would approve this abomination of a Rolex.

Least liked Rolex? Would have to be this one!! Which IDIOT came up with the idea of embedding diamonds in a rubber strap?

I don't know why people hate the YM II. Personally, if I had the money, I'd buy the WG YMII before I buy a SS Daytona or a Milgauss GV. By the way, that's not a rubber strap, that's sting ray leather. |

Not really a "line"...but the mid-size two tone datejust is a pretty hard to sell piece.

Would I buy a gem encrusted Rolex or Audemars, if money were no object? Probably not; not really my style. But it's a thing of beauty in its own right. Would I find a Rolex covered in diamonds ugly or otherwise "hate" it like a few here (hate for an inanimate object?!)? Nope. Is it resentment for things out of reach? Or for those who can afford them (and do wear - or, in your eyes, "flaunt" them)? Or a bit of both? |

You're right where I bold :)) j/k. The truth, I love my TOG the most not because of its exceptional beauty but its unique. I've been spotting several Rolexes, the majority are Subs & DJ. I've not seen a TOG once. Just came back from VietNam & my TOG was on my wrist all the time even in sleeping (only this trip). During a dinner, one guy loves my TOG so much & asked me to remove mine so he could take a close look at it. I did it without hesitation and I could see his eyes sparkled. I think & believe my TOG is the only Rolex that he can hold, touch, smell & smile at it ONCE in his life. |

This is the ugliest Rolex I've seen in recent memory, and it was in an ad in GQ. Maybe Captain America wore it to his grave?

I am completely for all stainless sports models..anything else I tend to disregard. Afterall, Rolex was built on a history of durability and reliability in extreme adventures. In today's world, if you take 100 people and ask them what comes to mind when they hear 'Rolex' - 99 of them will think of diamond encrusted, solid gold Presidents...sad. If you're lucky, the 1 left may say "1665 DRSD or GMT IIc or PN Daytona or LV Sub or ...!!!"
