Talk me off the ledge ... or not

I was in Tokyo yesterday (saw approximately twenty (lost count) 116500 ceramic bezel Daytonas, all overpriced), and I found myself yet again considering "the unthinkable," i.e., trading my Day-Date 40 or 116528 Daytona (probably the Day-Date) for a Patek 5146 (YG); such a beautiful watch that I have admired for many years.

PP 5146s are great ACs but they are under considerable price duress right now so it could be a good time to go for one at the right price or trade/cash combination. Go for it if it's the reference you want.

I'm a fan of the 5146 as well. It oozes casual luxury which in turn feels very Patek to me. I say why not.

It's not my style, the dial layout doesn't work for me but it is tempting to have a Patek AC for sure, I'd go for the 5205R if selling the DD40.

I love the 5146 although I have been leaning towards the rose gold myself.

Well Otto,

I am not attracted to many Patek models but I really like the symmetry of that dial.

I will just google the price.

Ok, I have seen US $28k mint to $33k new.

That is a go get it from me.

Enjoy wearing it.

Eddie.

If I were you, I would sell the Daytona and go for the Patek... enjoy the dilemma!

There are several PP that I would consider a trade for but this is not one. I would keep the DD 40. See what Basel holds in a few days.
