What's next?
I guess a lot of people expected or at least hoped for a SS Coke GMT this year. This didn't happen as we all know. I wonder if Rolex now are changing the line towards new versions of SUB/GMT with new movements. Now we have SS DJ with the new movement, we also have SD also with the new movement. So - next year? A new version of SUB with the new movement? Or a new GMT Coke with a new movement?
Are they in to the slow transition in to a new SS line of watches? Yes, I know only Rolex knows the answer but what's your opinion? |

I hope not! I'm having a 114060 this year. But if Rolex thinks of changing a sub or the gmt for the movement, it will change the design as well. IMO, that's not too probable. The sub now is a very solid model with lots of iterations based on the 114060 (date, TT, gold, hulk...). Besides, the BLRO was launched a couple of years ago along with the new movement day date. So, no change in the gmt was made then.

I think it's too early for a Sub update. It's only been about 10 years since the launch of the Smurf. Prior life cycle was much longer before updating, but I guess they didn't really need either because they didn't launch any new movements. I'd guess the Sub gets it last to be quite honest. It's probably their flagship line (your could argue Daytona as well IMO, some could say Day Date, but I think the Sub is the quintessential Rolex).
The GMT though, that could be interesting. Rolex did put the 3186 into the 16710 late in its life cycle. Next year SS Coke 116700LNRO with 3286 don't shoot the messenger |

Should mention, Rolex usually releases precious metal versions first. No PM versions of the Sea Dweller though of course, so probably worked a bit different. Must've really been a slow seller for Rolex to change so soon in its life cycle for a professional model.
