Rolex 116610LV long term

I currently own a 16600 sea dweller and want to add a second Rolex to my collection for my 40th birthday. Tried on a few yesterday and the LV really caught my eye. I love it and it adds some color variety.

Buying a Rolex is a stretch for me so my question is will the green grow old as I age. Not really over the next year or two but say when I'm 50 or 70 even? Is the green timeless enough to keep for decades and pass on to my son?

That is something that you need to think about.

Personally, I would not likely wear a green watch anywhere.. Makes the choice easy.

You have to really like the colour green to buy the Hulk - you either love it or hate it. Have you considered the Batman? 116710BLNR.

For me, I like the 116610LV but it would be by 11th or 12th nice timepiece, not my second. It's not an everyday watch for my taste. But it's your taste that matters.

I'm actually more fond of the 16610LV, which I think is a minority position around here but I am not certain of that.

I you like it and can afford it, go for it.

I do like green and for the 15 minutes I tried it on and looked in the mirror it seemed very subtle unless you got close or looked directly down at it. I also realize it may look way different in direct sunlight on a daily bases.

I tried the blnr also. It looks great but I'm not a fan of the pcl. Maybe the pcl would grow on me but I sure do like the brushed look.

Excellent point and I sure hope not. Sometimes bold choices fad with age and wisdom. Maybe that's not always good. Bold choices are often more fun.

I recently acquired the 116610LV and have had it on the wrist for about a week. In that time I've had three comments from strangers so I'm thinking it's not an under-the-radar Rolex. For perspective I've worn my BLRO for maybe two or three weeks and have received zero comments.

I'm in my 30s but fully expect this watch will age well with me. As I get older I'll need a little color to keep me feeling young!

Sure, I would go LV since you already have the 16600

The LVc is a strange beast for me. Every time I consider trading it for something else, the sun catches the dial just right and its first love all over again.

It is a beautiful watch...It is unique...however unless green is your favorite color you may be tired of it in a year.

That's just my opinion ....who knows it might be the one for you

I can say Rolex will never get tired of green......it is their signature color after all. But I personally love the color so I love the green dials. If you don't like green I wouldn't suggest buying it to avoid regret.

Who can say what we will like or be like in 20 years? Just take each day as it comes and live for now, esp with a Rolex luxury watch.

I don't think we can have any way of knowing how it'll age. I would think it's more like that bezel will shatter before it fades or scratches

My dad gave me his LV on my first Father's Day as a new dad, and I plan on giving it to my son someday, hopefully when he becomes a dad. It was my second Rolex. I would not have picked it myself, but I do love it. That's the beauty of a good gift. Green isn't really in style now, and probably won't be in the future. But the watch is beautiful now and I think it will be beautiful tomorrow.

I bought one of those, beautiful creature, but I confess that after a year or so I started to tire of it and eventually sold it. I'd like to say that age has nothing to do with it, really, but I think it does fit a younger man better.

That said - buy it used and you should be able to flip it later if it doesn't appeal to you without much loss.

I don't love the color green, and honestly never even really liked it, but the LVC is easily my favorite watch.

I can only attest to ownership up to about a 2.5 years, but I 100% love it as much as the day I bought it, if not more.

That said, the BLNR would also be an excellent choice.

The LV will not fly under the radar. Keep that in mind ...

Is it an everyday and standalone watch? Absolutely.

I've owned it a total of three times and it is the only Rolex I can't see myself not having.

It actually bothers me just a bit that I get more compliments on my LVc than my Platinum dial Yacht-Master

Only you will know whether you will be tired of something or not. I know friends who drive the same car forever, me, 3 years and I am tired of any car I am in and get the itch to move on.

I just bought the LV this past weekend and have been lusting for one for about a year already before I bought it. I am in love with the color and it goes very well with my mostly casual attire of any color ( who says there should be color coordination between your shirt and your watch? )

Here, see!

You just articulated my concern - whether or not I would eventually grow tired of it.

This is exactly how I feel too, well said. I've owned mine 2 years and love it just the same and blue is actually my favourite colour.

The LVc causes some much controversy, such a cool watch! I'm thankful that I own one.

I like it a lot but I got the black date first. Then the LV was still in my radar but I got my second black Sub. Now I still have my eyes on one but will probably get the Exp I or the new AK or something else. I'm not helping much, I know, but you get the picture.
