Ordered an extra card for my "better half" this past Friday. They confirmed it would be metal. Mine is still plastic -- opted not to switch right away

I have had the AMEX Platinum business Credit Card ( not charge card) for years and enjoy the $0 fee per year. I am not one to use perks however maybe i am missing out on something. I don't travel often though and it seems this is where the real benefits occur.

Had platinum for 4 years and didn't find the benefits worth the fee. You still have to queue for customer services and type in your card details before you speak to someone. I don't pay a fee for my bank and I speak to a human within 2 rings, no press 1 or 2.

Very cool that the card is metal, I really like that, but £450 per year for what you get isn't worth it.

They are bumping the annual fee $100. I break even on benefits at that level. May have to rethink it.

i used to belong to a club whos gold card was actually made of gold ,,,, but thats another story , and the perks that came with it were exceptional too.

Do the new chipped US cards now work in Europe--that is, do they have a corresponding PIN for point of sale devices? Hope so.

Used my "dedicated travel agent" to arrange some travel-disaster! She booked wrong week, though correct flights. When I called to change to the proper dates, was told that she was on vacation. Sorted it all out, but that was when they lost me. My Green Card does it all.

I got mine. It looks amazing. Its more heavy than my chase reserve card which is also metal. Great touch. Is it worth $100 more annual fee. NO but i guess thats the direction they wanted to go.

That's what I have and it's been a great card. Especially for getting into sold out events and restaurants that I had to have a table for on the fly. I do like the service as well.

Maybe I'm missing something here but my Marriott and Sapphire are metal. And that's been 3 and 2 years respectively. This isn't about metal is it ?

Is this about Platinum, platinum watch ? lol ��

I know a lot about both. I actually have both.

Plain and simple - The chase reserve card gives better rewards in terms of points and multiplayers on certain types of purchases. Approximately 2.1 cents earned per point. With many things being 3x points. You get $300 free travel credit on anything travel related. So your only playing $150 per year for the card.

Amex Plat - Better travel benefits such as better lounges, hotel status both (gold SPG status), (Hilton and Ritz Gold Status), 1x for all purchase except 5x on travel through amex or direct from airlines. Approximately 1.9 cents earned per point. Annual fee is $550 and a lot harder to use the $200 travel credit as you cant use it on tickets for travel. You do get $15 a month on uber credit which gets you around $200 off. So you technically are paying more for this card.

I have a need for both so i just try to capitalize on all the benefits as much as i can so i get my moneys worth from the annual fees.

The chip is read through the same reader but US cards are chip/signature as opposed to chip/PIN
