Explorer II 216570 size comparison to the Submariner 116040
Hi there!
I recently bought a Sub 116040 and about to say goodbye to my old but very nice 5513. I think the Sub 116040 is an awesome watch. Above all expectations really. But my question is. How much bigger is (wears) the Explorer II 216570? My Sub 116040 is perfect on the wrist. Although I have a small wrist. It wears excellent and looks awesome. Curious how the Explorer II would wear if the Sub is this good. Probbaly some of you own them both? (black dial would probably look smaller than the white polar) Thx guys! |

When you say you have a small wrist, what is a small wrist?
As an example I have a small wrist and I wear my oyster bracelet in a 6x4 set up. I have this watch in 40mm and 42mm and the 42mm does not wear big. I also have it in white because so many other dials have the black only option. Good luck! (try it on)! |

The 42 mm Explorer II does wear slightly larger than a sub. It is not too much but the key is getting the watch sized right. Should not be an issue.

The 42 wears large IMO. I have a 8" wrist and feels like its a 44. Gave me the same feeling my Breitling colt 44 did. Big and flat. I flipped the Colt and got a Sub. More proportionate for me at least.

Don't have either now, but my experience was that the large dial area on the Exp2 makes the watch wear larger. The case has the perfect lugs so it's not clunky. That being said, it's nice and thin and unlike most divers, the bezel on the Explorer 2 won't get caught on the shirt cuff, which I liked. Great watch, IMO, and not as common as some other watches.

I honestly don't think the EXP2 wears that much bigger than the sub. With the flatter case back and metal bezel, it's a very modest 42, IMO.
