14060 dial question

Hi! I have tried to search without any good findings.

I am about to purchase my first 14060, I have found one I like however I am not 100% convinced about the dial.

There is as we know, "3.5" different dails to choose from. One is of course the Titrium dial. The Swiss and as I understand it, the 0.5 I mention is the Swiss service dial and then the Swiss Made dial.

The one I am looking for at the moment is the "Swiss Made" dial, before that the Titrium and Before that the Swiss only dial.

Is there a right or wrong on which one I choose from this 3.5 different dials?

Should I not care so much as I do?

I don't understand this question. I looked at the watch I'm wearing today and it's a 2 year old LN Sub with Swiss Made at the 6pm. The lume on this watch is bright blue, the bezel ceramic.

Are you saying you're looking for a ceramic bezel no date sub with blue lume?

It doesn't matter. The vast majority will be 'SWISS MADE'

Hey!

No, what I mean is that there is different dials within the 1990-2000 models of Submariner.

The Tritium "Swiss T < 25", 1990-1997
Swiss, 1998-1999
Swiss made, late 1999-2008?

What I was thinking, should I care so much about what dial it is or at the end of the day it should not matter. I am not looking for a investment flip watch, it will be my first Rolex I tend to keep for a long period.

Sorry for any missunderstandings.

Kind regards,
bbbb

I have owned the "Swiss" and "Swiss Made" 14060's. My experience was that:

--the Swiss Made one was a 14060M, cost me a little more, but was also easier to flip. I also thought the lume was slightly better than on the Swiss dial.

--I was able to pick up the Swiss dial version with full box and papers for a good price, and though the lume seemed slightly fainter, it was still fine. Even though this version is less common, that doesn't make it more desirable.

--never owned a Swiss T < 25 dial because I prefer lume. If you want patina, then that's the one to go with.

Good luck! Btw, yes, I do think you should care before you make your decision so you don't have regrets!

Hey! Thanks for your answer :)

I am looking at an late/beginning 1999/2000 Swiss made for the moment, fullset including original receipt. Any ideas what kind of price range one would cost? I found one in quite good condition. Just Heard that it was Little bit overpolished though.

The big / tricky question is, is it a 14060 or 14060m? There are late A-series and early P-series that say Swiss Made on the dial, but they are still 14060's. Then later P-series became the 14060m. The 14060m has a slightly updated movement.

Either way, I would say your price range is around $4,500 to $5,000. Toward the higher end if it's a 14060m.

It's obvious indeed that you don't understand.

I think you are overthinking the importance of a few fonts on a dial buy first condition and whether any service history.Up till 1960 Rolex used the word SWISS then dials were Radioactive Radium, from around early 1960 on Rolex used T.Swiss.T less than 277 MBq (7.5mCi) and Swiss <T25 less than925 MBq (25mCi)on their dials depending on how much radioactivity Tritium they had, this was used from 1960 till mid/late 1998.Swiss only dials were then used with the change from Tritium to Luminovor from 1998 to 2000, then after 2000 back to Swiss Made with Superluminovor which is basically the same lume paint. And from around 2000 the change from the cal 3000 to the cal 3130 will be a 14060M and will be stamped between the lugs the M stands for modified movement.

It doesn't matter! My first Rolex was a 14060M and it was a four line model because I liked the way it looked. Everyone says "buy the two line" or "buy this" or "get that with the odd 4" but WHO CARES? It's your watch and you are the one who looks at it and all that matters is that you get the one that you like.

And, as it turned out, I ended up selling that 14060M (twice-long story) and getting the ceramic one. Which isn't a classic and yada, yada, yada but I like it better.

I don't think it matters at all. But if it's at the same price point or very close I would go with swiss made, then swiss, the t
