I wouldn't say ugly as hell, but I'm glad you mentioned this. Love the ice blue face but can't understand the brownish (chestnut) bezel.

While generally I don't like nicknames like batman and bluesy I think it's fitting for the hulk. A nickname is fine if it fits but inventing one for the sake of it for ever new watch...

* Rolex fancy names for pedestrian items: cyclops being my favourite. It's a magnifier glued on to the glass to compensate for inability to read the date under normal conditions. And, no, it's not iconic.
* Nicknames for watches. God help us.
* A submariner is essentially the same as a GMT. Same overall aesthetic, case, bezel appearance, dial style, hands style, bracelet style.

* Rolex has a handful of parts which it recirculates in different combination on their watches, implying a bigger variety of models than rational analysis would indicate.
* I dislike the purchase of a Rolex because it looks like a Rolex. Obviously important to many that others see said watch and react accordingly.
* Yachtmaster II. Hard to find the words.
* Spending over 10k on a Rolex. Diifficult to comprehend the logic or the sanity.
* Gold and two-tone Rolex watches. Tend to look ostentatious, tacky and knock-off.
* Platinum on a Rolex. Well, there'll always be some willing to donate to the Rolex staff party fund.
* Calling the Air King a pilot's watch. If any pilot relied on that thing for true flying purposes, they deserve to be beaten to death with their pilot's licence by the guy taking it off them.
* Any Rolex that looks like jewellery. Which is most current models, if we're honest. Buy a Rado instead.

It's not going to turn me into an international jet setter, modern-day Tom Selleck, Jacques Cousteau. If I knew intimately about the various internal intricacies produced in any Rolex ever since time began, I'd be a bit weird, let's be honest. Like having two PhDs in Maths.
It's only a watch, whose sole purpose in life is to tell the time, and doesn't even do that very well. Don't take it too seriously.

water resistance deeper than a bathtub is unnecessary for all but the 17 Rolex owners who dive with them. Not quite as superfluous as the chronograph on the Daytona (they're not just cute little dials) which go entirely unused by the masses whose lives apparently depend on having toys that they can show to others, but never actually use.

I hate the fact that others watches in the SS Rolex price range depreciate like there's no tomorrow and are hard to move pre-owned.

My frugal sensibilities prevent me from spending my money on watches other than Rolex.

2. I like the classic look of a TT watch (especially on a DJ)
3. Never seen the uproar and love for the BLNR myself, I'd never own one.
4. No Sub or GMT should ever be worn on a strap of any material or color.

The cyclops is ugly, iconic or not.

Two tone watches are very dated and look silly.

The green bezel on the hulk ruins an otherwise great looking sunburst dial.

I hate the nicknames of watches. Yes, I use them now because of this forum.

The new airking was designed and pieced together to use up old unused watch parts.

Agree with other posts that mentioned the "my watch says hi" with photo of watch. ridiculous.

Agree with other posts, "lets see watch on a plane, in a car, what you're drinking" etc..(these threads make me roll my eyes)

Hate the "will my watch be okay?" fill in activity threads.

The "AD experience" just dumb. Seems to be hyped up like some mesmerizing experience. Its just a purchase.

The BLNR is way over hyped here.

Try as hard as you like, but Rolex is no tool watch. It's men's jewelry.

BNIB is a usually a misrepresentation. Once the warranty clock is started ticking by the AD at the initial sale, the watch is no longer "brand new" regardless of how nice it or the box looks.

If I was a reseller I'd have a CAD program that makes exact copies of the stickers and every watch I sold would have them.

There is too much angst about modern Rolex designs vs. "tool watch" history. The watches have the same function and can still be used as tool watches (even if they look a little slicker).

Coke does nothing for me (vs. Pepsi, BLNR).

I don't like the majority of Rolex models and it also depends on what generation.

In fact almost the entire 5 digit reference is very boring and dull to me. With a few exceptions which are the transition models.

There's only three 6 digit models I like: SD4k, BLNR, Daytona C. I hate PCLs.. I would brush them on the blnr if I ever get one.

I used to hate being associated with Rolex people. I still hate it. But I've grown not to care. I'm much happier now.

Rolex makes the best sub $10k watch. I would even say they make the best chronograph for the price point (msrp). But after that.. It quickly goes down hill. You are literally paying for precious metals at that point, nothing more.

I personally don't like PM models. Not because I can't afford them.

I think they look a bit tacky/old (not fact but my personally opinion). And PM are more prone to scratches. I never have the urge or need to buy a PM watch for whatever reason.

I personally know someone who doesn't wear expensive watch, clothing, etc. But he has a trading a/c with over USD 100 mil net asset......
