I love WG. My only issue is it looks too much like SS.

LB, like the fact that it would fly under the radar for 99.9% of people I would come across in daily life as it appears to be a steel watch with some blue.

Lets be honest, you can't tell the white gold from steel. To back that up look at the Yacht-Master platinum bezel. You can't tell it's platinum. But the owner knows it is.
So anyone that buys the white gold buys it for themselves. Anyone that buys the yellow gold buys it to show off. Thats not knocking the yellow gold owners, but lets be truthful- you can spot the yellow gold a mile away and thats not the case with the white gold.

This is largely a yg vs. wg preference question. I don't understand wg for all the usual and customary reasons. That said, I'd love to see the sunburst blue on the wg version. My pick is for the 116618 all day.

I chose WG. It was the one Rolex I have always lusted after. I wasn't as big of a fan of the blue on the YG. I would love to add a YG Rolex but would probably opt for the GMT.

Actually after wearing WG enough you learn how to tell it versus stainless pretty well, even in pictures on this forum.

If I was to get a YG sub it had to be the black dial / besel.

The WG received more wrist time due to the fact that it looked like my other SS watches, just a different color dial (the blue is beautiful) I don't wear YG as a daily, because of work circumstances. But, it is certainly worthy of daily wear, as it is gorgeous. I wear it as often as I can most other times. As I said though...it is definitely not under the radar!

I have owned both but the WG was just a stepping stone to the YG. Both are winners!

I like both but would go with the 116618 LB first. I have owned a few of them and it is a great watch. The WG Sub is on my short list but it will be a second or third PM watch, not the first.

Tough call....my first PM sub was the 116619, which I still have and love.
After owning it for about a year I was ready for a yellow gold. I chose the 116618LN and this watch I adore. If I were to do it all over again I would not change a thing in my graduation of sorts to the yellow gold sub. I felt the smurf prepared me in a way for the full yellow gold sub. If you are looking to save a couple of bucks go YG.

I've gone back and forth a lot. I think if I were to buy one today it would be YG

As for noticing it or showing off, I find the main place people seem to notice it is on a train or the Tube where people have time to eye you up, and frankly most of the time I'd rather those characters did not and I often roll down my sleeves. The watches are just for me. |

Now I do not own gold Rolexes, but I would totally dive into the Yellow Gold sub. It is the only way to find out how much of a gold guy you really are.
Going for YG first prevents that you will end up with the Smurf because you (think you) want gold but no YG. That is not really a choice in favour of the Smurf if that makes sense. It is anyhow a missed opportunity to test how you really feel about YG. So I think you should approach this dilemma by going for Yellow Gold and see if it is for you. As someone said before: Gold = Yellow.

Some don't have the financial means to own both gold subs, so they (I) have to make the right decision the first time. The Smurf blue doesn't work for me. I already have a white metal Sub, Hulk
