Gap between "tuna clasp" blades

Hello all, if I dont bend the blades like in the picture below the clasp wont close properly.
But now that I do it that way there is huge gap between the 2 blades, anyone got the same gap as I have? did you manage to fix the problem? or should it be that way?

Quite strange... something certainly appears to be out of whack

Is it popping up due to the micro-adjustment being a few holes in, pushing the clasp up

I know it look strange as I have this kind of clasp before. If I bend it so it look like your guys then it wont close, only thing that keep it close is because of the fliplock.

So I bend one part and straighten the other part that touched my skin, that way the damn clasp lock but the gap occur.

Could it have something to do with the fact its the older diver extension style? its alot more "meat" to hide in that clasp:

Remove a couple of links and it should sit better. Happened to an older 93150 I had on a Sea Dweller.

But if I remove the links I wont be able to wear it

Remove a link and move the adjustable pin farther out to the end of the clasp.

Yeah that was how it originally was setup but same damn gap occur.

Straighten those blades back so that they both nestle together.

Once you have them as they should be, bend the two tabs at the end of the clasp inward until it snaps closed.

I would take it to AD rather than bend it myself. I fell on my 16570 and destroyed the clasp (while it was in my pocket). Those old clasps are surprisingly expensive, better safe than sorry.

This is true. Replacement buckle for my 78790A was $525 a year ago.

That inside blade is bent and should match the one closer to your wrist.

After I bent the extension link on my SD the clasp didn't sit quite right

Anyone ever seen the square shaped recess at the diver extension end before? New one on me. Previous repair maybe?
As per the original post it does look better. Fine tuning the blades is annoying.
