Teak Patio Furniture Oiled
Finally assembled and finished putting the oil on our new Teak patio set. Just in time for Summer!
I am glad I oiled it, like this look a lot. Thanks to those of you who gave me great advice. I know I'll be oiling the set once a year. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=540367

Looks good Larry. I missed your first thread. I've had a teak outdoor table for over ten years , I got tired of oiling it every year and found a marine Sikaflex product. I can now leave 3-4 years between recoats.

Teak really is best left to age naturally, oiling it looks fine in the first couple of years and then you start to get black streaks in it that look bloody awful. If you don't believe me, contact a teak manufacturer and ask their advice. Regards Mick |

Are you sure it is teak and not iroko which is the African version of teak. My back garden is kitted out with a teak garden table, 8 chairs, 2 foot rests and 2 coffee tables and they were purchased in the mid 1990s and have never been oiled. They stay outside 365 days a year and still good. I was advised in the literature when I bought it, do not oil it under any circumstances. Oh and I have a garden bench seat that I bought second hand from an elderly gentleman who bought it in the 1950s and he never oiled it either and it is still fine. Regards Mick |

Teak is fine unfinished, if you like that look. If you prefer the golden hues and rich grain, then oil is the only way to go. |

Did you order the table set from online? In the market for something similar. T
