Price increase?? Would all AD increase their prices even they have old stock models?
I was wondering since Rolex increase their price...do you think AD's will increase their prices even if the watches they have is an old stock and models?

I don't think so. Here in Jakarta, the price is still the same, no up at all.

Most will - although you may have an opportunity to seek a 'false' discount down to the old MSRP if you know the old price, especially if it is D series or older. There are plenty of M's still out there.

I think it is hit and miss in the U.S. . . . although I see most ADs jumping on the chance to jack up prices, whenever increases occur.
Then again, given the current world-wide recession that is only just beginning, all those rapacious little clerks at Ben Bridge may get motivated to make a sale happen eventually. |

Mama Rolex ...Demands the price increase...
To be an official Rolex Agent means that there is no room for individual inniative...you got to follow the rules ...or else. All discounts are illegal sending the goods out of state is illegal Any deposit for a watch is illegal A list is illegal Preferential treatment is illegal...etc etc etc. Only thing legal...is ...take the money...provide a good watch...out the door. You see why Tiffany's and Cartier told them to go fly a kite... |

Personally, if I saw a D or Z series Submariner at my AD, I wouldn't pay them more than $5,175, probably even less. Their cost at the time was based on that price as MSRP.

Fine. But you haven't answered the question.
Why can't an AD sell NOS at pre-increase price? He didn't pay post-increase wholesale for it. It was in his inventory, in this case, before October 1st. Are you arguing that Rolex price increases are retroactive? Quote:

F-series TT Daytona in inventory for 4 years? By policy, it should have the new price.

If you walk into a grocery store, you don't see the same type cans of corn selling at different prices because the store bought them at different prices.

To Rolex, the serial number prefix is irrelevant; it doesn't denote a year or model, simply a serial number identification... A "D" sold today is just as new as an "M" sold today; it's only a WIS, or a frequenter of the Forums who would know the difference. As far as selling current inventory, my guess is that many Dealers do not "buy" their stock outright. I'll bet that they put a percentage down (deposit), with the balance due at sale, and the inventory actually belongs to Rolex USA until then. When Rolex increases the price, then they probably also increase the amount due on all unsold stock. Likewise, if they pull the franchise, they pull unsold accountable inventory and return the deposit..

If you are dealing with an AD who gives discounts and want to buy a model that is not in short supply, you could try to negotiate a lower price on a watch that is in stock if it doesn't have a late serial number. Tell the AD that if you can't get a good discount, then you want the AD to order a "fresh" BNIB one from Rolex. Could be worth a try.

Interesting, a couple of AD's stated to me that Rolex does not extend credit to them. Once they receive the watches, they have to pay Rolex within a few days.

Actually Larry that is incorrect. I have spoken with my AD as well as others on numerous occasions on this exact subject. I personally thought they werew on consignment from Rolex as well but apparently they are paid for in full. Now what will be interesting is with the current credit crunch will these ADs be able to get the $$$ to keep buying inventory? They do depend on that oh so precious line of credit from the bank. I mean think about that middle case with all those DD's in it not to mention all their other inventory. We just heard about the US Auto sales today. We'll see what happens soon I'm sure |
