Bluesy discount at UK AD ????

Hi guys,

I am contemplating getting a 116613LB and prefer the sunburst dial (2013 onwards I think) so would be late pre-owned or new.

Has anyone in the UK managed to get a new one from an AD with a discount in the last 12 months (since things went crazy here !!) ??

I have found a couple available in AD's but they both want full retail (£9900).

They do also seem to be available new from just under £9000 at UK non-AD's which sounds tempting but never bought 'grey' before.........I assume there are no major pitfalls ??........or things to look out for ??

Anyway, main question is whether anyone has managed to get an AD discount on one and if so how much.

Thanks in advance.............

Iconic are doing £8,800 and I'd say that's pretty good at around 11%.

UK ADs are tough right now and I'd guess you'd squeeze 5% off, if even that these days. Many will likely say zero and let you walk as the UK is the cheapest place for a Rolex and they know it.

Whilst I cannot directly answer your question with respect to AD pricing for this model, I have heard Haywood Milton's (TRF member) name mentioned on this and other forums on countless occasions and in a wholly positive manner. The admittedly limited communication I have had with him reflect the same.

Milton's Jewellers & Pawnbrokers have an unworn piece available and listed at £9,250.00. Perhaps it would be worthwhile discussing your interest with him to see if you can reach an acceptable deal?

I purchased one a couple of weeks ago, absolutely no chance of any discount

Obligatory photo.

The bezel is not as light as shown in the pic, rubbish phone camera.

getting a discount even on TT at an AD in the UK is the exception and not the rule. Availability being what it is you have to decide if you are ready to walk if retail is the only option as the next AD probably won't even have one. The odds are not in your favor.

My AD would not give me even a 1% discount on a WG sub. They didn't even have one in stock, i was just asking for in the future when they get one (not that i have decided on that watch one way or the other yet). Not really relevant to your specific watch, just to add some context.

Iconic or Chronext or Blowers you can trust. Push for a couple more off.

Thanks for the input so far.......seems to backup my thoughts that an AD discount probably wouldn't exist.

I have used Blowers before for pre-owned and had seen them for £8800 new on the Iconic website, but hadn't come across Chronext before so will speak to both this week.

Thanks for the photo as well.........it reminds me that this has to be my next purchase !! My wife has similar sized wrists so we often 'share' our watches and I think we would both be happy wearing a bluesy. I have never really 'got' the bluesy before, regarding it as a bit too blingy for a 60 year old grey haired old fart ......... and I am not a TT bracelet fan, but I think I am now hooked on it and the bracelet just seems to complement the dial/bezel combination.

I am not a lover of the 2009-2012 ceramic bluesies with the 'flat' blue dial, but the other option is a pre ceramic 16613LB for a lot less money (seem to be around £5500-£6500). I like the richer blue dial on them and I am a bit of a 5-digit fan (love my 14060M 2-liner), but I suspect the lure of a glidelock clasp, ceramic bezel and sunburst dial will win the day.

If I take the plunge naturally pics will follow..................

Away from the big cities I can't see why you wouldn't get a discount on one of these. I got a discount on a TT GMT fairly recently, and my old man got a discount on a TT watch for his mrs even more recently.

I don't see why 10% isn't realistic really. I'm well aware that the weak pound makes demand strong from overseas, but venture off the beaten track and some ADs will discount still.

Alternatively, if you're heading to Southern Europe for a holiday this summer, have a haggle over there. The AD I frequent when I am in Spain offers a 15% discount as a starting point on TT and PM pieces. Southern Europe is where most of the grey dealers mentioned in this thread source their watches from anyway.

I can confirm 10% is and should be achievable. My mum purchased a TT ladies datejust on Thursday and got 10% discount. However Goldsmiths only offered 3% and then 4% when the young chap spoke somebody higher up

When I also enquired at the same AD about a BLNR they had Sub LB in which I tried and the kind lady did offer me 10% off it then. That was before 2016 price increase too

ladies watches are a different ballgame entirely. For a TT ladies DJ, that discount does not surprise me.

Bluesy discount at UK AD ????

May be weird, but my AD offers me 10-15% on SS sport models, 20-22% on TT models and 30-35% off on PM models... needless to say Daytona or the incoming sky Dweller will likely not be discounted. But everything else is.

They would only do it on watches with precious metal in them. Said that enabled them to discount. Regarding the stainless sport's not a chance

ahh. misread LB, not LV. I thought you meant discount on a Hulk.

10% for a full gold sub before the price rise/GBP fiasco was pretty standard. Outside London still probably achievable, maybe not 10%, probably a bit less. My london AD however is 0% on that model.

I did manage to get 10% off my sub, seadweller and explorer 42 from Ernest Jones using the shareholder discount card. Kindly advised by forum member Shoppy.

Edit. That is when EJ used to sell Rolex.

For full gold it was less than standard. I'd have expected better than that for PM back in the day. And really, for almost any other PM you could still get that. Subs are always a bit their own category.

I was offered the LN version for £9500 in April when I bought my Sub C date, so that's a discount of £400 brand new at an AD although I'm sure it's because I've bought a few pieces off them. Doubt they'd offer any discount to a first time buyer.

Would appreciate an update tomorrow if they do...........

I had already asked AD in Southampton, Bournemouth and Guildford but all 3 said absolutely no discount on 116613LB. I have a busy day of golf tomorrow but will get 'er indoors to call a few more remote AD's.

I am golfing in Market Harborough Tue-Thu (hard life this retirement lark !!) so might look up any AD's en route and visit in person if they have one in stock.......... and try waving the debit card under their nose

Miltons are good to deal with although I have never actually purchased anything from them, but did recently sell a watch to them. As far as I am aware they have an excellent reputation.

Goldsmiths wouldn't discount anything on my Bluesy, so I left there made a couple of calls and bought it the following day from another AD for a £600 discount.

That was in February. But I know I was lucky for my first Rollie

I got a decent discount on mine back in 2015 from my AD.
15% off plus ship no tax so it came close to 20% off msrp...

That's all very kind comment and much appreciated, but please be aware that the watch and website you link to belong to a cousin's business, not one of the four shops I run.

It would not be right for me to give you the correct link to my own website here, but others may be able to direct you to it.
