Old prices
Amid all the talk of new prices I thought that it may be of some interest to remember old prices. I have old price lists (15th October 1979 and 1st August 1986). It pains me to think that some of you may not have been born then. Here are some price examples - read them and weep :
1979 1986 Explorer 1 - £402 £681 - Explorer 2 £954 Milgauss - £506 Explorer 11 - £491 £954 Sea Dweller - £553 (with date) SD 4000 - £1161 GMT Master - £504 £834 Air-King - £302 £555 Submariner - £361 £1012 Day-Date (18ct YG President) £3374 £6309 Cosmograph Oyster in steel (6263/0) - £538 (6265) - £882 |

Was 195 a lot of money back in 1964?

It's a bit before my time but I'll bet it was still a chunk of change. I'm not sure how it would relate to today's prices but I'm sure someone will have an inflation calculator that can give us an idea.

Well, lets just say Rolex is not exactly on the same track as inflation.

Seeing as how I made $3.35 an hour in 1986, the current price list seems much more attainable.
