Hong Kong still the place to buy?
Hey everyone,
Fairly new to the game here, looking to travel a bit and see where I can get the best Rolex deal. I remember many moons ago that the general consensus is that HK is one of the cheapest place to buy a Rolex. You guys still agree? Looking at the prices from all around the world, even though without Sales Tax, Hk doesnt seem to be offering such a great deal anymore. What do you guys think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Depends what you want and where you are coming from. There are more ADs here than any city in the world (by far), but generally HK isn't as great as it once was for Rolex shopping, unless you're looking for vintage.
These days are long gone.... |

Not necessarily the cheapest but you have to be really savvy to get the best deal
AD discounts on certain models can be had but to get the rock-bottom price you need to know your grey market dealers and shop around. Don't forget many watchbuyers come to Hong Kong from China as it is a lot cheaper and that could be quite literally millions of them coming here with the sole purpose of getting a good deal. For grey dealers, I'd recommend Kens watches and union watches. Do NOT go to Mariannes in Tst. With all grey dealers, you still have to be wary of fakes and frankens as they can still pass through |

May not be cheapest but you're bound to get the watch you want! I was able to get both a Hulk and D-blue in April this year from an AD!
DaytonaC/new SD maybe more difficult to source however.. |

I was under the impression that the UK now is the cheapest place to buy Rolex, if you can find one

Well done! My (non exhaustive) polling of local ADs has turned up exactly zero hulks or deep blues.

The short answer is no.
For grey market Tokyo is much better with today's currency exchange rate. |

I was the same like you 2 months ago. In HK asking around to 2-3 dealers if they had a BLNR. All were saying "no sir, looong waiting lists".
Then I just stopped to another AD who said literally this:"No sir.... eh..wait..we just received a few new models... let me just check.. (went away a minute and back).. we just received one an hour ago, here it is" and then unpacked it. All I can say is it was a very heavy rain day, and maybe less shoppers than usual. So it can just happen like this. You need to try them all. Funny thing is I didn't take it. I tried it on and..well.. it didn't do the wow effect I was expecting. No instant love. Somehow nothing more than my Sub to me. I guess the watch was gone in the following hour anyway! The net price was not the cheapest on Earth. If you're a globe trotter and easy with queuing at tax refund counters, you can find better deals. But for a BLNR it's not a question of saving a few bucks here or there imho. It's a question of being lucky enough to be able to get one - at least for those in love with that reference. |
