Forever???
I am 40 years old and I have decided that I do not buy more watches. I have an Explorer ll 16570 white and a Datejust 16234 black. Will it last 30-40 years, when I am old?

Good pieces you've got there. They will definitely hold up. The question is, will your decision about not purchasing more hold up

I have 5 Rolex and have come to the decision that enough is enough. Sometimes you can just get too carried away. Regards Mick |

Sure they will! And less is more.
More wrist time and more memories with each one. I'm also in favor of having fewer pieces. Too many, takes away part of the enjoyment imho.

You have two classics in your collection that many would be proud to own - and so should you. With a little bit of care they will easily outlast you. Enjoy!

Yes. No need to worry about that. However at 40 can you really say forever?

When I turned 40 I asked my wife if I could buy a rose gold two tone Turnograph with a black dial and oyster bracelet. I had lusted after it for years; it was my grail watch. I told her if she let me buy it I would never buy another watch again after that. She agreed and I was over the moon about it. Since then I've bought/sold/traded three other Rolexes. The moral of the story? Never say never. ;-)

That's a nice pair you have there , take care of them and your children will enjoy them , a few months ago I sold my 16570 to a friend and after a few weeks I had some sellers remorse and wanted the watch back because it was the first Rolex I bought new , He was willing to sell it back to me but he decided to polish it and took it to a watchmaker that did a disaster and rounded all the lugs etc, so bad that I didn't want it back.

One of my favorite things about Rolex is they seem explicitly built to last your lifetime and beyond. Sure, they're not the cheapest but if they're in it for the long haul then the cost really is not so outrageous. Plus, it's hard to think of a more versatile collection than a DJ and ExpII!
