White gold bezel and pool chlorine

I have a Datejust 16234 with bevelled bezel in white gold. Is chlorine in swimming pools harmful to white gold?

I believe gold is more corrosion resistant than steel. So rinse when you are done and you are good to go. My TT sub goes in the hot tub all the time!

White gold bezel and pool chlorine

No problem. Would you worry and take off a wedding ring / other jewellery before swimming? Or would you just get on with it?

I swim with my DD36 WG in all kinds of water (chlorine, salt, hot springs) with no problems. Just rinse it afterwards with fresh water.

I have seen online before articles about how chlorine does cause gold alloys to tarnish. Now, how much time your gold piece would have to spend in chlorinated water to cause this I don't know. I can't imagine it would be a problem unless you spent considerable amounts of time in the pool everyday.

If shipwrecked gold coins can survive at the bottom of an ocean for hundreds of years and are ok when discovered, I think your bezel will be ok in a pool

Pure gold coins are not the same as 18K gold.

As an amalgam 18k gold will tarnish depending on the mix.
Silver and copper etc.will oxidise.

But a 18K gold watch will handle most common chemical exposure without any issues.

But stay away from Aqua Regia.

I wouldn't even get the watch wet, never mind exposing it to harsh chemicals

It should be ok. Otherwise, Rolex wouldn't produce 18 K Sub...

Me too....I don't care what they are rated at, my watches stay dry. Well, I give them the occasional wash, but that's it.

Rinse it off thoroughly after swimming and your be fine. I never noticed a problem in pool water with gold.

Your good to go. What I like to do is get a cup of fresh water and put my watch in there for like 2 mins and I'm good.
