Two part question.

What is the heaviest watch currently in production in the Rolex line?

Also, what is the heaviest rolex watch you have worn?

I assume is the platona. Would a diamond dial add weight or reduce it?

I think the Deepsea is one of the heaviest Rolex around.

Not sure if diamond would add to the weight, since I've never tried one on.

A carat diamond is 0.2 grams so would be pretty insignificant (a $1m iced out AP has something like 70 carats)

Probably the YM2 in gold imo is the heaviest

I always wanted to know which Rolex model is the heaviest so I did some research.I'm a little surprised because if memory serves me correctly the Omega Globemaster MC LE Platinum dial with the blue enamel indices weighs much more ~350g

Speaking for myself just cannot understand this weight thing of today does being heavier make it better.Although precious are heavier than the SS models but for that extra weight you sure pay a very high premium price. With today's trend that bigger and heavier is better I have just heard from Rolex CEO who is a personal friend of mine, that sometime in 2018 most all watches will be made of a special lead alloy instead of SS or precious metals to make them super duper heavy.But this is no ordinary lead, this lead is super refined and cerachrome coated and super heavy.Plus I heard that Rolex is going to launch a range of watches Basel 2018 with interchangeable cases,ranging from 40mm, 42mm, 44mm right up to 72mm for when you want a super heavy and super size wear watch day .Now this range will be supplied with easy open case backs that are self sealing, just pop open, pop out movement and change case and wear.But again like many rumours some of these rumours are just rumours.

If something is amazingly light weight compared to its size, people are amazed. If something is amazingly heavy weight compared to its size, people are amazed.

I have Deepsea and when you look at it, it looks very nice work of art and it does not look like it would weight that much. It is heavy for its size as an object and looks good, so it makes me like it. I have tried Platona, but i am not a fan of Daytona, so only the weight of such a small watch makes me amazed. I just bought BLNR, i dont like the feel of it at all, but i like the way it looks.

It feels nice, you feel you have something in your wrist, very subjective experience :)

anyone can make a heavy watch. im more impressed by the super thins.

I don't notice the weight of the Platona as I wear it everyday. I just don't notice the weight.

Platona is 280g plus. The YG YM2 would be 240-50g I guess.

What is surprising is the Platinum Nautilus also weighs around 280g.

I notice it when I first put it on. Then it fades away unless I think about it. If I think about it, I can feel its weight, but otherwise I don't notice it. It sure isn't like you feel it throughout the day.

My YM2 gold is 250g minus two links. Not sure how much a link weighs and the links are in the box stored elsewhere, so I can't give an 'off the shelf' weight.

There is for me something nice about the weight. I don't have to have a heavy watch - my new AP Chrono RG on rubber strap isn't heavy and I'm still contemplating getting an AP 44Ti, although that's looking less likely, but there is something nice picking up a weighty watch. And its not to do with its value. When worn I can truly say I don't notice the difference between the YM and AP - i.e. I'm not aware that I'm wearing a heavier watch.

That seems like the logical choice. I had one (traded it) and it was extremely dense and heavy. I suppose PM models have an edge in the weight of the metal itself, but the DSSD is just so massive it probably makes up for the difference in materials weight with it's sheer size and bulk.

72mm?! That's insane. I can't even imagine something like that on my wrist.

I always thought my Steinhart Ocean 1 was heavy (280'ish grams I want to say), but the BLNR honestly feels just as heavy. Doesn't matter after 2-3 days on the wrist, you miss it when it's not there.

However, simply put, just because someone is interested in the different weights of different watches doesn't mean they think "heavier makes it better". In fact some people may find interest in the topic for the opposite viewpoint.
