I hope you learn to enjoy your father's watch. I don't wear my Rolex as a status symbol. I wear them because they are a remarkable piece of engineering and design. And when I wear the Rolex I inherited from my father I always relish the connection that it brings me. It is an old and valuable watch. So I don't wear it daily. But it is the perfect watch to wear on a day off. And the act of taking it out and putting it on is like a little ritual bringing me back memories of a man who I miss dearly.

I agree, I bet your dad would say wear it happily. Insure it also.

Sorry for your loss. I wouldn't worry about what anyone else thinks. That watch was something your Dad owned and I think he would enjoy the thought of you treasuring it. If someone asks about just tell them the truth, that it was your father's and he passed it on to you when he died. Wear it with pride and remember him.

My Dad was a musician and I have a couple of his guitars. They aren't anything special, a Gibson and a Fender. I gave the Fender to my son and even though I don't play I can't see parting with the Gibson. I might frame it in a case and display it. It is worth maybe $1,000 and it is well played but in excellent condition.

Anyway, I hope you keep the watch and enjoy it. The Daydate is a classic and timelessly beautiful watch. I hope to add one to my collection someday.

Oh, and please post pics!

I agree. But do get it insured first.
