C van der Klaauw

I am a huge fan of astrological complications which I think is way more interesting than s chrono!! This is an independent that's been on my radar for a while. Sadly the pictures aren't as great as I hoped due to over head lighting.

I found the watches to be too thick at 14mm so will be a pass. But here are some pics.

The planaterium is a 40mm SS case of 35 jewels. Shows orbits of the planets around the sun.

All CCDK have a common theme that is the Indexes are always above the horizon and generally a complication at 6 o clock.

Priced around $50000

The real moon joure with MOP dial has a 3 dimensional moon indicating true moon phase. It deviates 1 day in 11000 years.

Priced at $29000

A pity that the thickness is putting you off, as they’re superb watches, and ones I’d suggested on another thread.

I really like the complication and the fact that it's SS that keeps the price down. My gut says they use a standard case for all their watches and thus those with fewer complications could have had a thinner case high definately would have interested me a bit more. They very kindly gave me their catalogue but it didn't talk too much about the movement which I didn't photograph.

Will see if they do a watch in the say 11.5 a 12 mm range but there are a few I quite liked and this moon and tides is currently my favourite.

I need to read up a bit more on them as very little was discussed on the movement. Will be going back in 2 weeks to have another look.

Some of their movements are ETA2824, which they’ve heavily reworked and modified – somewhat like what Nord Zeitmaschine does with their Variocurve.
I’m not sure if they have an in-house movement, or whether they feel the need to invest in one, and the case is likely to be one size fits all for the ETA or to keep inventory and costs down.
The Real Moon Tides is an novel model – just be sure to buy it at the right price and as a long term resident in the watch box.

think you spot on with the ETA and I a sorry I didn't take more pictures in the bespoke pieces. They have some wonderful dials. Like my Voutilainen you will defeat hammered on resale as I think the market will be much smaller in who is actually interested in these type of complications.

They had a few Recitals which I think you like and will get pics

Yep, very small group of buyers who’ll be interested in these – definitely a heart ruling head situation.
The Bovet are lovely – try to spend a good bit of time looking over them, I think you’ll be suitably impressed, especially the finishing.

I had a look at some of these in Amsterdam. The dials and finishing are stunning.

Same place I found my Journe.

Great looking watches - I have to say I'm liking the thought of an Astronomical complication.
