Rolex Datejust 116234 Question

Anyone seen this type of dial before, with the numbers around the edge like this instead of the Roman numerals? It's a 116234 (36mm) Datejust.

All of the other dials I've seen of this model have a closed ring with the little Roman numerals, which I don't like. I much prefer this design, but can't seem to find it. It's not on the Rolex website. I wonder if Rolex has a specific name for it or if it can be ordered.

This dial appears to be from the WG Datejust on leather strap (Ref 116139, discontinued 2012), which was then fitted on the 116234 you have pictured. I don't think I've seen a 116234 with that dial before.

Interesting. I knew something was amiss because I couldn't find another example. Thanks.

.

This dial called simply "Blue" (like many other DJ dials) have been exclusive to 116139 and 116189 , leather strap WG DJ , from the start of those 2 watches in 2006 up to 2009.

In 2009 leather strap DJ dial collection was modified to be the same as SS and SS/WG DJ (116200 and 116234) , and this "blue" dial disappeared from catalog.

It have never been available for 116234, so your watch have been modified by a complaisant AD.

Is it possible me that it’s a 116139 with an oyster strap added - or is that not possible?

I was looking into making a similar looking version.
