Motorcycle leathers are heavy... if that is really the true purpose of those jackets. I wouldn’t wear any of my motorcycle leathers as fashion pieces or for warmth in cold weather.

Believe it or not in a moment of need I bought a leather jacket in a booth at the Laconia motorcycle rally in NH, five years ago. It was cheap. It's not an exclusive, expensive brand. Hot Leathers I think. I didn't expect much but that thing has been worn everywhere in all kinds of weather both on the bike and in the truck. It's my main jacket for knocking around and it still looks pretty good considering. It has character now. I have no plans to "upgrade". I did have to replace the zipper last year for all of $18.00 though.
I could have spent more for a "better" jacket. Didn't need to. Even worn (broken in) the thing just works.

I also have a Schott motorcycle jacket (model now discontinued). Mine is ballistic nylon with armor in the back, shoulders and elbows and a liner. Great jacket. I don't wear it often (long rides in cold weather mostly) but when I do it always delivers.

I have a few I like but for the money the Taylor Stitch moto in whiskey is pretty sweet. I got it on discount which made it a good deal. Only trick part is sizing.

I've had several and dollar for dollar I haven't seen a better 3/4 winter partial lined like Roots Canada does.

Schott does make some more practical ones that are suited for casual wear.

These jackets take years to even break in, but when they do.....

Also, Orvis has a couple of very nice options but they are pricey and tend to fit a larger body type.

I would check out Overland Sheepskin

I have two jackets from them: one in wool with leather trim, and one in suede. I believe both were made by Lone Pine leather in the USA

If you look for a piece of Hollywood history, there's a small British firm designing leather clothes for the movie industry. Can't remember the name but you can Google search it (Peter something..) They did all Indiana Jones jackets for the production, as well as for Matrix, some Bond and Dr Who movies.

I had mine done according to Raiders of the Lost Arch model. Tailor made. But you need to be very patient as it's quite a small workshop. Several months to make it, and some adjustments to plan/ send back. But when I got the final version... wow, so perfect, comfortable and iconic... a pure beauty. And a good subject of conversation with friends who say "WOW! It's the REAL ONE!!". There's a small woven print inside explaining the origin, "designed for Mr. Harrison Ford for the movie blablabla..." which I'm very proud to show :-)
