1061 service - "required dial replacement"
Purchased a blue dial 1061 (1969 vintage) earlier this year, and needs work BC of tube (threads). Took to AD and just heard back Rolex "requiring":
1. Tube and crown (that's fine) 2. Hands & dial (they said there was some moisture which damaged the hands and dial...but I have to say I saw none though obviously the lume was long ago dead. -now, I fought this battle before (and won) on my 5513 dial and hands. Just wondering since the 1061 isn't as collectible/valuable as some SS models like my daytona and sub if I should hold fast on rejecting the hands and dial replacement - or if the newly lumed service parts would be OK Opinions? |

If you think the dial and hands are fine, don’t do it. Lots of independent watch makers can sort out the tube and crown.
