Silver. After all this talk on here and seeing the wind up coverage last week I followed Dan on IG. Today they posted, I clicked and my will got weak at $230. Thinking about switching to the black bezel before they ship but kinda like the silver. Kind of like the Daytona, always liked the 520 better than the 500. Silver bezel over black. I've noticed them re-selling very close to retail on ebay, plus shipping costs, which is strange, but seems like they do sell. |

It arrived today. Will get more pics and my thoughts later. First impression. For $230 it’s a winner.

Beautiful watches. I would not mind picking up one of these for my collection.

Dan Henry Watches
So hear is my opinion after a few hours on the wrist.
+It looks great. The crystal and sandwich dial are wonderfully done. The handset is appropriate and I like the fat/skinny combo. + seems to keep time well. It should, its quartz. +case and caseback are well executed -only one. The straps suck. But are appropriate for a $230 Watch. The leather is stiff and uncomfortable. The nato is cheap and not comfortable. Big opportunity to fix this at a low cost. - the spring bars are gimmicky. But in this price range your typical buyer probably doesn’t have a spring bar tool at the ready. But the springboard are cheap and I recommend changing them immediacy if you want your watch to stay on your wrist long term. All that being said I had a nice 22mm buffalo grain leather Zulu strap in the box. This makes it all right. Probably totals the watch but it is really wearable like this. Edit: Tapatalk won’t let me add pictures as of this am. Any known issues Adam? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The strap on my 1939 is ok, nothing special, but I really like the one on my 1968 - it's soft, supple and matches the watch. The supplied natos are not great, but work much better if you remove the springbars and their holders. Watchgecko is a good place to browse for affordable alternatives, both leather and steel.
On a side note, both mine are running less than two seconds a month fast, which is great even for quartz, and should only need setting once every couple of years at this rate. |

Hi Adam,
Took my wife and Dan Henry's 1939 to lunch today? First outing for this one.

I stumbled on this thread a few weeks ago and like most of you, I went straight to Dan Henry's website. I have been meaning to get a dress watch as I think the LVc and GMT IIc cover the sport side of things pretty well.
The 1947 arrived today. Overall, I am impressed with the watch - details of the case and the dial are just superior to watches I have seen in this price range. The doom crystal is a nice touch and blue small second hand is pretty neat. The leather is a bit stiff but I have to mention the awesome dial! I am very happy with the purchase. What would I change about the watch? I would like to have the bezel polished along with the top of the lugs. If they were polished, I believe they would contribute to the characteristics that I see in really high end dress watches. The polished bezel would give more contrast to the brushed center ring on the dial. That's it...and better leather straps. lol |

Congrats. The '47 is a really nice looking piece, especially up close. Did you go silver or gold tone dial/hands?

I went with the gold hands. I believe these gold hands have a rose gold hue to them. I didn’t have much sunlight so I am looking forward to seeing this watch under natural lighting.

For anyone who might be interested in what the Miyota movements look like, here's the inside of my 1939.

Just noticed that my 1939 Chrono is just 17 seconds fast after six months. Not bad for a non-HE quartz movement.

Nice pix of the movement Adam.
Caught up with some friends at the weekend for my birthday dinner. One of them was wearing the DH I gave him a few weeks ago. He really likes it. I took a quick iPhone pix.

Saw this yesterday. Not sure if I can resist the evil panda. I just need to decide between date vs no date. I am leaning towards the no date. Adam, are you going to pick one up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'll probably stick with the two I have for now, but I did pick up two extra watch rolls today when I saw them now available for sale on the DH website for $40.

I saw an article on the 1964 Gran Turismo on Worn & Wound and fell in love with the Panda and Evil Panda, at that price and size, it was impossible to resist. This is the first I ever heard of Dan Henry. I have had a hankering for a vintage looking panda/reverse panda for awhile, ever since getting the white DaytonaC in late 2016 and black DaytonaC a month ago - but couldn't find anything I was willing to pay the price for (white gold Daytona panda would be sweet though).
I just received my evil panda today and love it. Very high quality feel. Obviously not Daytona level but still many times better than the $250 I paid. The only thing I can't figure out how to do is reset the 24hr counter. Also my only major gripe is that the lug width is 19mm, which does not seem to be a common lug width for 3rd party straps. This watch definitely scratches my reverse panda itch for no money (relatively speaking) and I will likely order the panda dial too, but that new announced Hamilton Intra-Matic at 40mm is giving me pause. But at $250, its almost a no-brainer to get it anyway. Below is a pic. |
