Rolex Submariner 14060 “P” Serial PRICE CHECK

I already own a 16610 Sub Date and looking to add a no date Submariner. I came across a Submariner 14060 “P” serial two liner. It’s for the head only. No matter, because I wanted to use Everest straps anyways. History is unknown. Service is unknown. No box or paperwork. I’d say the case is a 6-7 shape and insert has a few marks. Asking is 3,800, but I think that’s way too high. Am I wrong? Gut says walk away unless the price is in the 2K range.

I may have screwed up asking. I did a search and many “price checks” came up on this forum with discussions about pricing.

I was thinking I would offer 2,900-3,200 for this. I just thought 3,800 was too high.

I hope you have comfortable shoes because you will be walking indefinitely.

That's the cost for that reference head only.

Even in that condition with zero history, servicing and no box/paperwork? I’m seeing complete 14060 in close to mint condition with recent service in the low 5K range.

Hence the 3800 price from low 5k range for mint condition one...
Would be tough to find one below 3500 methinks.

I just figured no history, no recent service, no bracelet and no box/paperwork played a role in pricing. I think I’d rather pay 5K for history, service, bracelet, box/paperwork and near mint. What does a newish bracelet go for these days? Still around 1Kish?

Yes. There are many variables that play a role in price from condition, to full kit, recent service, etc.; however, unless someone is desperate to sell, doubt you would get for the head alone for $2K. New bracelet will cost approx.$1.5 K, if I recall correctly.

$3800 may be a little high but doesn't seem too far off IMO.
Here's why:

Rolex service cost, $800.
Preowned bracelet, $1000.
Rolex box, $200.

Someone more knowledgable than me can tighten my ballpark estimates, but if my numbers are close, then for a total cost of $5800 you'll have Sub with bracelet, in near mint condition, with recent service, box and papers.

That seems about right based on current market; I doubt you'll find a complete, near mint, serviced, set outside the $5500-$6000 range.

If you really don't care about the bracelet, can live without B/P, and are willing to have an independent service it rather than RSC, I think it's a good buy.

I should clarify. When I said 2K, I meant high 2K to low 3K is what I figured. I see a couple of what appear to be small actual gouges on the case in these pics. They are small, but they are there.

Never hurts to inquire whether the price is negotiable, especially if the seller appears motivated. But keep in mind that seller likely did their research, and took into account the condition.

I appreciate all the responses. I’m kinda new to the rodeo. I have an Omega Speedmaster and a 16610 Submariner Date already. Still learning the ropes and pricing. I do know that I wear my Submariner the most and I don’t like the newer “chunky” cases on the Submariner.

I guess it depends a lot on what you plan to do with it, get it serviced, get the case repaired, etc. If you just want to wear it on a strap, then it seems like you're better off buying this one than buying a complete kit, much of which you won't need.

$3500 seems like a reasonable price based on the current market. Me personally, no, I wouldn't buy it, but I like bracelets to be included. Not a strap guy.

Good point on the service - should also be taken into consideration with the
purchase price.

On another note, how do you become a paying supporter of TRF? I’ve looked around, but can’t find it. Thanks!
