I have taken a few breaks here and there when life becomes insanely busy with work, family or other big life changes. I wasn't on the forum much about two years ago when I moved back to Montana from NYC. During that time not only did I start working remotely for my company but we bought a house and had a zillion things to do with that. We just bought a new house here in Bozeman and will be moving again in a few weeks. Luckily it is only a cross town move instead of a cross country move!

The core of the forum is composed of a few dozen "big shots" who form the clique and you will never break into that. People come and people go, and the core just remains, fawning over each other.

Maybe you can glean some info here but you sure need your waders and a vaccine against abuse. I firmly believe that someone's first post is often just as meaningful as another's 50,000th.
The core of the forum is comprised of a few dozen regulars. They start many of the threads and comment most often. They also tend to have high post counts. You join the core group by being here a lot, then participating in a lot of threads.

Some of the core members are quite well endowed with expensive stuff, while others don’t even own a Rolex. There’s a broad range. But you don’t see that unless you participate with an open mind.

Lose some of your disdain for the regulars and join some threads with enthusiasm and you’ll be a core member too.

Sorry Abdullah, I know it's childish but I couldn't resist.

Seriously though I think your advice is sound.

I didn’t take a break because I was upset with forum actions...I took a break because I move from hobby to hobby. Perfectly happy with the forum its moderators and members

Well thanks for contradicting my observation that the forum has gotten mundane with your thread "leather straps, square or tapered". I stand corrected you are replete with insight and nuance. No issue with members at all and the moderators run the joint. I just don't like the consequence of their decision, but I respect it.

Yep, I was curious about what the prefered style is. Kind of like 16600 or 116600, 116610 vs 114060...how many unique thought provoking and philosophical topics do you want about watches? What greater knowledge are you seeking.. But go ahead and keep stalking my forum posts

How about the economics of the watch industry, AD business practices, ethics of grey markets or charging premiums for LEs to name a few. Topics that require thoughts and opinions. Threads were people agree to disagree.

Again not criticizing the typical SD43 fad or fab post or your thought provoking strap inquiry just saying the absence of posters who would challenge one another diminished my experience.

My friend, those threads are all over the place. I’ve posted in several recently (which I’m sure you know about ).

I get it, it plagues EVERY forum...”don’t start a new thread use the search”, but when you find the thread that relates to your topic and you reply you get the thread locked for “bumping” an old thread...it’s a vicious cycle.

You have obviously done very well in life, don’t get ruffled by people on the internets....your collection of watches is worth more than most peoples total assets, hell pick any two of your pm Rolex’s and they are worth more than the average house in the us, let alone the world. Don’t be butt hurt over a forum, that’s a first world problem, stay and contribute. We are all fortunate to be able to enjoy this hobby.

I’ve only been around about 2 years. I really like the brand and enjoying seeing pictures of so many models and learning some things along the way. The folks that participate on the forum are diverse and pursuing TRF while occasionally contributing something I believe is helpful or constructive is relaxing and entertaining for me.
I may be away for a week or two, especially when I’m on one of my grueling business trips where I may visit multiple countries over the course of a couple of weeks.

Tired of TRF? I completely understand!! Ive been spending mor time on the Open bc it gets real old with the "can I wear my sub at the beach" or "is it ok to wear my watch to work" threads. Good and witty guys here! Wish we could be wittier.....

“diminish my experience” - classic business speak drivel.

Life is what you make of it. Make your own threads if you feel others aren’t meeting your expectations. No need to criticize threads others feel meet their needs.

I'll consider it but as a reminder:

This is entirely optional and no one ought feel obligated to participate, only do so if you wish to do so.
