Same here. Love the tribute.

They should've made it a display case back. Would have been a nice modern touch instead of straight re-issue.

Hype it like as if it was the modern Jumbo. OG ROO!

Agreed. I think this one looks fantastic. I love the petite tapisserie dial.

I had been thinking of an RO or ROC next to diversify away from ROOs, but I’m very tempted to pick this one up

probably the only offshore i would consider. I don't even mind the rubber since its a throwback piece. The solid caseback is less than acceptable though. They upgraded the movement and clasp so its not totally original and the case back would have been more appropriate to make it sapphire.

Anyone going to get one? I am torn regarding the price of new vs older examples which seem to be going for 10k+ less.

I'd go with a older example for this reference. IMO the execution of the modern throwback is pretty lazy without a display back or ceramic pushers, while having the updated clasp and 3126. Seems half-baked to me. I'd much rather have an original piece, provided you can find one in good condition that hasn't had the crap polished out of it.

A beast, a 15202 and a 5164a now that’s a nice rounded collection you would just need a 116600 and maybe a Skydweller

I wear my OG The Beast on blue rubber and looks really good. Reissue is definitely spot on.

Nothing compares to the OG which I own; however, being a reissue you want to remain as close to the OG as possible.

Tell me where I can find a Beast for $10K or less. I'll take them all. Check this in-depth study of the reference 25721ST The Beast.

assuming its actually available and AP isn't playing games with it, i would seriously consider it. Very seriously. Im not jumping through any hoops though and won't buy it from the pseudo-boutique in London so i'm probably out of luck.

The fact the dial isn't stamped and also isnt a mega tapisserie is the main appeal for me. The new ones are missing that and i actually prefer the petite tapisserie anyway.

I said 10k less, as in you can find a prior version for 10k usd less than the reissue.

It’s my understanding this will be around 25k CHF and I’ve seen preowned ones on chrono 24 for around 15k.

You prefer petite on the ROOs? Just doesn't look right to me, the whole point of them was that they were mega, larger than life sports watches.

Above all else I appreciate that the dial is done on a pantograph. The new stamped dials lose that finishing magic that makes AP special.

There's even one (full set box and papers) on the Canadian forums going for around $13.5K and still hasn't sold after months of listing...

AP just emailed me about their new “Beast” and I was so impressed I had to get my original one out to remind me how much more I like this than the current crop of ROOs!

I think it’s a home run. But not sure I would buy the re-issue when you can get a really good and complete original for a faction of the price... I do think the original will appreciate over time though - like the original Jumbos, albeit not necessarily to the same degree. Wish I could afford one of those!

Yes and also to the original Beast. I've added a blue rubber strap to mine but for the Beast there's nothing like it on bracelet. Here's a pic of mine on AP rubber strap. You just have to order the plots and all additional screws. Between the strap, buckle, plots and screws I think it was close to $1,000 USD back when I did it a few years ago.
