Out of state plates get a $2.50 admin fee for their accumulated tolls. Maybe the fines are for locals?

It's if the cop catches you. The do set up patrols for it. I was pulled of once because my transponder failed to go off. There are signs up allertimg to the possible fines. Some exits are sun pass only. They really like to sit there and watch.

Everything. else worked, the electricity, pumps, etc. I went to the southern part of town and had the same problem. None of the card readers worked. I had a quarter of a tank, which would not get me to the next town. There were a lot of people waiting for the card readers to work. I asked the cashier if the registers worked and she said yes. I took out my emergency $100 bill and got gas. Cash, never leave home without it!

The intent of the change in the law was to avoid those situations but I get your point about selective enforcement. Per the plan, you could be issued a Uniform Traffic Citation (UTC). But you can reply to it and simply pay the toll + admin charge within 30 days. If you do not reply to the notice within 30 days, the Clerk of the Court in the county where the Citation was issued takes over. At that point, without a valid reason for not paying the toll, you get the $100 fine plus court costs and fees. Sent from my iPhoneX using Tapatalk

I think he may have flipped both ends of this deal
I carry cash and cards. Amount of cash depends on day of the week. Start the week with $1000 in 50's and as the week progresses it drops down to a couple of hundred. At the end of the week it's back to the bank for a refill.

I always carry a bit of cash. Not a lot, don't get me wrong, but enough.
There has been quite a few times where deals have come up. I have a few MB (and had a few Omas) writing instruments because of it. Others have been tools, cars, cookware, etc. It's something I learned from my father as well. When an opportunity presents itself, you don't want to be the dingus running to the bank first, and hoping it's still available later. There has also been a few moments where cards just don't work. Be it the machines go out, or something similar. My butcher deals in cash, some wonderful local restaurants, a few things like that also. |

I'm someone who does carry cash and would feel odd if they didn't. When I first had enough credit to care about, it was a period where identity theft was a big thing. It seemed like every third purchase I would make required phone calls and answering a battery of questions. Over time, I used cash more and have to say, for whatever reason, feel like I have a knack for getting my card rejected without cause. Got a new card a couple of months ago, activated it, used it online a couple of times, went to dinner with friends and it got declined. No idea why. My wife uses cards for everything without incident but I wouldn't feel comfortable without cash.

Having lots of money on hand makes sense if you buy and sell, but I just buy and rarely sell. So, usually between $150 and $300. I can always get to an ATM machine if I need more.

I used to buy/sell lots of studio equipment in need of repair. When a deal came up I always got it because I could be there right on the spot with money in hand. I repaired the stuff and kept anything I wanted and sold the rest. The only way to do that kind of deals was with cash. There are instant bank transfers that can be done on your phone nowadays, but cash still always works.
I always had about 1000-1500 USD ready in case anything showed up. Double that if I would still do it, this was about 15 years ago. |

In the past few years I've hardly carried any cash on me as I can pay for most of my travels and purchases via WeChat pay here in China, from a 1RMB banana upwards. Every vendor/shop here is geared up to accept such payments. Scan your phone and off you go, paid.
Even with my friends here, credit/debit cards and cash are rarely used. One gets so used to this convenience and cashless society here that when I travel overseas I need to carry cash and that's a pain!

My grandfather used to carry a couple of thousand on him back in the 80's/90's, my nan used to iron his money to make it flat, I kid you not. Me I never have more than $150 in my wallet and often closer to $0, Australia is now a totally tap and go world, even a recent charity donation at the cricket they had a tap and go machine.

I tend to keep anywhere from $50 to $200 in my wallet but usually use plastic if possible. Generally it disappears with time and has to be replaced.

I keep £50-200 in my wallet usually.
Hell, almost every shop accepts cards now. |
