I've got nowhere else to post this and I'm just really excited. I was stuck in a deep, dark debt cyclone for the last 5 years. Credit cards, student loans, auto accident, legal issues, multiple apartment issues, health issues...you name it, 2015-2017 brought it to me.

Today I paid off over $30,000 in credit debt. I am free.

Been there. Did 22k in credit card debt years ago making 40k, in 3 years. I know how bad it is.

Congrats. My wife and I recently completed Dave Ramsey’s FPU and paid off $49k (mostly cars) in about 4 months. Such a great feeling and weight off. We cut up all of our credit cards, except for an AMEX charge card that requires it to be paid in full each month. Spending habits tend to change when you know the $ is due in less than 30 days. Congrats man!

I wish I could say it was discipline and hard work; but it was more of a shining silver lining to a horrible injury I experienced near the end of 2016. Things will never be the same for me; but at least I was able to balance it out with a sliver of financial freedom.

While spinning in the commercial blender of a severely negative debt to income ratio for the last five years, frugality was absolutely paramount for my survival. Working in banking/finance, I've seen how the best and worst spenders, savers and investors use their money....and now it's my turn! I'm definitely not a rich man; but breaking free from debt is one of the most liberating experiences I have come across in my few turns around the sun. It will NOT happen ever again. Now to design, create and perpetuate my Financial Freedom Machine!

I truly am happy for you! I did the same a few years ago and several times for my kids. My financial advisor said I could live on my SS and pensions since the concerns are debt and lifestyle. I have neither.
