Rolex AD Robbed Of It's Entire Inventory
This is my local AD right outside of Buffalo, NY. I've been a customer there for 30 years and I know several of the employees personally.
http://wivb.com/2018/02/05/amherst-p...s-on-maple-rd/ AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — On Friday night, Amherst police say four men went to the Reeds Jewelers on Maple Rd. and took all the Rolex watches. Police say the men, who were wearing ski masks, smashed glass cases with sledgehammers during the incident. Customers and workers were there at the time, but no one was threatened or hurt, police say. Staff members were able to get everyone into a back room. The men left in a red van with no license plates. One of the watches was later found in the parking lot of a nearby motel, police say. The watch had a GPS in it. Surveillance video is helping authorities in their investigation. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk |

Probably a tracking device that was placed by the AD on one of the Rolex watches. Specifically for such an incident.

Wow, that's incredible. They didn't care that customers or staff were there at all. Probably armed, so I'm glad nobody was hurt. The ADs I visit in Canada often have a security guard who checks you over before buzzing you in, but I understand smaller ADs can't always afford that. Hope they catch the SOBs. Cheers!

I guess it's compulsory for every Rolex AD all over the world to have some sort of GPS tracking device. There was an abduction of a primary school boy in Malaysia last year, the victim was held captive until the ransom money was paid by the parents but the kidnappers were surrounded and caught by a Police SWAT team 24 hours later. Not sure how many but tracer devices were actually embedded into the surface of the 100 ringgit banknotes ransom money

Sad to hear this - just too many robbers around everywhere good things are sold nowadays.
Not likely that the watch with GPS was a Breitling since Reed’s doesn’t carry that brand. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

This was my thought as well. If true, then this would have to involve someone familiar with that practice. Maybe a former employee?

oh wow I was at this AD in December, so sad to hear. The Rolex display was at the back of the store (unless changed since I was there).

A couple of years back there was a few brazen daytime smash and grabs in a couple of Houston malls. Two were Ben Bridges with Rolex. Since that time almost all of the high end watch/jewelry stores will have an HPD officer sitting in them.

Huh???? Sue called me from Reed's-Jenn's while I was in the car on the way home from the office that day and invited me to come in and buy a Submariner she had just received!!! I guess I'm glad that I had already made arrangements with a different AD and I declined that invitation. I would have been standing at the Rolex display cases when these jokers walked in!

This is a few miles from my home. I was there last week. When I read a few threads here that ADs had received shipments I swung by to see if anything cool was in the case. Alas nothing. Very empty Rolex case.
What concerns me is that having groceries in the car and expecting nothing in the case I briskly walked in and eyed the case and briskly left before any salespeople acknowledged me or wasted an up. I also had my phone out as I was responding to a text from my wife asking what was for dinner! They probably think I cased the joint

Perhaps this is the reason for lack of stock? Perhaps the 3235 allows a tracker to be fitted within. Lol.

With the production cut, That AD may have a hard time to refill the case with sport watches. Good luck to the AD

If it was a green van then it could have been Rolex wanting their watches back

A attempt was made recently in WEMPE in Frankfurt Germany, they rammed a car into the glass window, shutters dropped down blocking entry for the attackers and the entire place filled with smoke. I was very impressed with the anti theft procedures.
