AD Removed All the Stickers!!!

Greetings All

I recently purchased a Rolex Explorer Ref. 214270 in an AD in London/UK. To my surprise I was told by the AD that all the stickers would have to be removed before handing it over to me. The AD also stated that it was their NEW Policy on all Rolex Professional Models.

Is this to prevent resellers from flipping?

Is this happening in other parts of the world?

Please let me have your comments.

Thank you very much.

Probably to prevent resell. I guess it doesn't matter if you're gonna wear it anyway.

I think if that happened me here I'd still ask to do it myself.
I find it strangely satisfying and I'm also a bit weird but for all my watches I've always then stuck the stickers on the inside back cover of the booklet.
I don't know why I did that for my first but continued to do it for my others too.

AD Removed All the Stickers!!!

Its a new Rolex rule... to prevent selling to all the retailers... Rolex wants that only the AD sell Rolex, nobody else. The order is: all sportsmodels have to leave AD shop without stickers! If not, they could loose theis licence...

Imagine you buy a SD with stickers in Spain with german warranty card and with stickers... then you would know that this watch was flipped from the german AD to Spain brand new, to reach his selling objective set by Rolex... if you buy this watch in Spain and advise Rolex, the german AD would get into serious trouble... this is valid from july 2017 i remember...

Right, to prevent resell as “new with stickers”... so from now this is only posible in AD shops

Alternatively Rolex could increase production to more closely match demand!

This must be AD specific or possibly if this was a first time purchase from that AD.
It didn't happen to me when I recently bought my LVc.

In any case it shouldn't matter if the stickers come off. The watch was purchased to be worn.

Very true. But what happens if it's a gift? Gifting someone a watch, is after all something that happens quite often. Personally, I would like to see the sticker stay on in this situation.

Cheers,
Joe

They may have been advised to remove stickers if they do or not depends on the buyer/AD relationship I can tell you I’ve collect mine (inc Daytona and Seadweller) and walked out of the AD with them still in the plastic coffins.

I just received my 214270 from the AD this week in Norway, with all the stickers still on.

Purchased a watch recently from a US AD, sales rep told me the same thing but made an exception for me. I said I wanted to remove the stickers myself and size the bracelet myself and they told Me that was a red flag, lol.

Anyway, my sales rep told me they could get in trouble for sending it off with the stickers.

Not sure if this is isolated to just this AD, but it seems the policy is growing. First thread regarding this was maybe 6 months back or more. It’s not a brand new policy.

Same happened to me in London last November, she was not saying it straight out but more like 'let me remove all these stickers for you' and it was done.

It is a Rolex rule and they are supposed to follow. Now are there exceptions? Sure not all AD's are following as evidenced above. My guess is the way Rolex has been with tight inventories and fewer SS sports watches being allocated to squeeze grey market most will follow the rule in time. I really don't see why stickers being on would make a difference to people unless they were focused on flipping. Clearly that is the reason for the rule. Personally I wouldn't pay a penny more for a new watch with stickers than for a new watch without them. People are crazy though and clearly the market dynamics have proven that in recent times!

PS there have been numerous threads on this so it isn't like this is new news.

Buying a watch with stickers, on a grey market, I'd feel safer because I've not seen or heard fakes that're able to have them on as precisely as the way Rolex did.

Not a deal breaker. Withholding the warranty card is a different story.

but do you know exactly what, where and how a gen Rolex is stickered ?
If it's a trusted seller with a good reputation, there should be no cause for concern.

Sorry am a little new to this stickers on a Rolex. Or just that many stickers on a watch (besides the case back and sapphire). Don't understand much about it. Able to share some info on this?

It's normal for some AD's to mail the warranty card. I've purchased several this way and it's really not a big deal.

consumer rights

just thinking out aloud, so if you buy the watch and theres no disclaimer prior to the sale of said watch and the stickers whilst being removed by the AD causes damaged.... who is responsible? the new owner or AD? also once removed who retains the stickers?
