Another 1016 question

Hello,

I have this 1016 that I am interested in buy from a dealer. They have been around for 35 years and guarantee authenticity so I'm not too concerned about that. It's an 8 mil serial and the numbers are really crisp. It runs really well and winds as smooth as one would expect from a Rolex of this age.

What they don't guarantee is that if everything is original. To me, it looks like the original hands dial case and crystal (albeit the crystal is cracked on 4 o'clock) but I wanted to get the forums input as you all know far more about this stuff than I. Is there anything that you see that I should be aware of before taking the plunge?

The dial is really in perfect shape, anything you see is on the crystal.

Any help/advice at all would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you so much.

-Paul

7 o’clock lug looks shorter than the others and lug hole very close to the edge

Thank you!

I just measured the top to bottom of the left lugs and right lugs, IE top of the 1 to the bottom of the 5 and top of the 11 to the bottom of the 7, and both sides measure exactly the same with calipers: 43.90mm so I think that may be an artifact of the watch in the image being a little rotated. IF the 7 was shorter, the two measurements should not match (unless the other side had exactly symmetrical damage).

There is some damage - it definitely was knocked at some point - on the underside but it looks worse in image due to reflections.

What is your take on the holes - do you think they are stretched out, or is the case polished? Looking at others, many seem to be close to this from what I can tell.

Overpolished definitely. Noticeable on first pic.

Thanks - okay it is an over polished case - it is original, correct? The dial and hands look okay, however? Does anything else jump out about it?
