Icon5 First Rolex

I am brand new to the forum and am considering purchasing my first rolex. I am trying to decided if I should by new or used as money will be a factor in my decision. I am considering the Milgauss, Sub, and Sea Dweller-Deep Sea. From what I can tell I would imagine I could buy the Milgauss and Sub brand new in the $6-$7K range and the Deep Sea in the $9K range. Can these watches be had at cheaper prices new? One AD says they can discount standard models 5%-10% (not the aforementioned models) and the other AD says they do no discounting. In addition, is there a used market for these watches and what are they going for. Thanks for your help!

Welcome

It pays to shop around. If you are buying your first Rolex I would suggest going to an AD. Some AD's will discount on some models while other AD's will not. It also can depend on how well you know the authorised dealer or seller.

Good luck

Should be no trouble at all getting at least 15% off those watches. If you encounter any resistance, walk away. There are plenty of hungry AD's who are desperate for your business.

Welcome
Visit your local AD. Select a new SS Sub at a 15% discount, walk away happy and never look back. Excellent first choice

You can get the sub and Milgauss for a nice discount. If you want the SDDS, they are less than MSRP brand new on various forum sales corners, just figure out what you want then start searching, you will get a good deal if you are patient.

If you live in Maryland, Alan Furman's is a Grey Dealer in Rockville.

You should make the trip there and see what they have in stock..

Thank you for all of your comments. I went looking today and after looking I have to say that the GMT II is my favorite. I have found it for $7k less a 5% discount. Plus I can save taxes by having it shipped to my work address. Any thoughts on this watch and price?

Yeah,....It's simply a fabulous watch!!

A GMT was my first Rolex and if I had to do it over again would still be.

Welcome by the way.

Welcome

Take your time. Read. Look. And, most importantly, try. I went through half a dozen wants before setteling on a Sub and a DJ.

Good luck and enjoy the hunt

Some of you guys are really lucky!!A 15% discount on a S/S Sub!In Northern Ireland there are only 2 AD'S the first one refused to order a S/S Sub in for me unless i paid full price up front and could not tell me when it would arrive. The second AD ordered it for me no problem, it took six weeks to arrive and he only gave me a 2.5% discount!
