Who owns this BEAUTIFUL Datejust??
I found this here and meant to ask more about it at the time, but couldn't find the thread again.
In any case it is simply stunning and I was curious to know anything you want to share about it. It is one of two Rolex here that helped spawn a couple of threads I started. Patrick

Glad you like it Patrick
I'm proud to say thats my beautiful DJ, it dates from 1956 (model 6605) & was a 50th birthday gift from my son 2 years ago. He bought it from The Vintage Watch Co, Burlington Arcade Piccadilly. It's stunning & in great shape, the engine-turn has slight wear on the 9 side of the bezel (just shows what 50 yrs of a shirt cuff can do) but that's it. Its currently with RSC Bexley, it was a bit gritty using the manual wind but on the advice of the service technician is having a full service while they still have parts available, the guy really loved it, when he opened it up it almost lit up the room, so clean & dazzling. Can't wait to get it back |

Well, thanks for posting it Chris, but I don't like it.........I LOVE IT!! God what a fabulous gift. It is one of the most stunning DJs I've seen in my two short years of browsing, but it has everything I love. I hope you don't mind me referencing it in posts sometime, with due credit of course. It's currently on my screen for wallpaper.
Once again, stunning and fabulous!! Patrick

I think its an engine turned bezel. I don't think this is currently available on a DJ. It might be on a Date.

Thanks for the info David I wonder if Tudor uses this similar looking bezel to give them a vintage look like chris's ? funny how they do really look similar

Stunning Watches!!!!
If Rolex was smart they would re introduce a vintage line with the beautiful vintage hands and dials! Much better than there NEW "II" watches that are oversized, overpriced and overated alarm clocks for your wrist!

I am not sure about Tudor, but here are some nice examples of Air Kings with Swiss Luxury that have engine turned bezels. They have a bit of a vintage feel to them http://www.swissluxury.com/rolex-wat...rned-bezel.htm

The new watches are not over rated (GMT IIc is an excellent watch) but I would certainly love to see some more vintage styling. Rolex are getting to big - 36mm watches are lovely. 40mm is fine for the professional range. But no bigger, please and no more maxi cases.

W O W ! ! ! Stunning!!!! How are you able to preserve the hands? Could they be restored if they had to be? I would hate to ever give them up!

I'm not sure what they called the band. I will try to post some other pics but this watch lives in the safe deposit box at the bank. It was given to me by my Father. It was his Grandfathers. I've already been robbed once so I want to keep this one safe..
