Agree that it has some value. Though, I’m not sure I would use the term “freshen up” in this case! It’s, sadly, a truly terrible attempt at re-doing the dial....if, in fact, that’s the original dial under there.
I’m not trying to be harsh, it’s just a shame that it’s so bad.

It is a shame but less of a shame than the owner chucking the Watch away and us never seeing it all these years later.

Bezel is pretty cool looking.

Unless you need a new kidney or can't make the house payment, why would you even consider selling a watch belonging to your Dad??? Get the expert opinions from the vintage guys here on where to get it serviced. Then either wear it proudly or put it in a safety deposit box.

Everything except the dial looks nice. Unfortunately the dial is the most important thing on such a watch. Parts are still valuable of course but it can not be compared to a correct watch from the same era.
