You need to pick the one you like better period. Not because one is worth more than the other and especially not because it's extremely popular on this forum. I passed on a mint condition Hulk for $7500 last year and passed at another for retail at the AD. After seeing prices rise, I regretted not buying one. Now thinking about it more clearly, I did the right thing. I would've bought the watch but probably would've ended up selling it by now. With the BLNR, I loved it from the beginning, had no second thoughts and took it as soon as the AD called me. My initial impression of the Hulk was that I love the green dial but it's not versatile enough for me. That's still what I think today. Green used to be my favorite color. Over time I started liking blue more. In fact my first watch ever was a quartz Swatch chrono on a green faux croc strap. I still have it along with one of the first Swatch autos with an actual ETA from circa '91.

That said, I just saw a rumor of a gold 116618LV. If that's released it could very well mean the end of the SS LV. Something to consider if you really love the green. OTOH the black Sub is the classic. What other watches do you have? This also matters when choosing to go black or green.

It's still clear that the LVc is the one you want, whether you get it now or in a year. If money is an issue, I see no point in blowing it on a watch you'll feel like you're settling to buy.

Never seen a Hulk in person, but I do have a SubC Date and it never leaves my wrist. I wear it every day.

Seriously though, its the long game and saving 7-8 hundred dollars getting a discount may not be worth it if you want a Daytona or something later. AD's love customers who pay retail.

IMO it doesn't matter if you buy 1 or 50 hot models from an AD. They have no more incentive to discount the 50th than they do the first as those watches are selling quickly to someone no matter what. Buying a lot does help sourcing watches though.
I'm not paying retail lol I'm getting 10% off on the classic subc and no taxes.

that is wild speculation and not a rumor based on any sort of first hand knowledge. Rolex passion report has the same predictions this year as they did last year almost. Sooner or later they will be right too, but not because they actually had any first hand knowledge.

Wild speculation but I could see this happen even if it doesn't this year. I think it would definitely sell well.

Last year, I bought a batman. But then we took trips to Disney world, a cruise, Vegas, and another trip so I had to sell it. I deeply regret it so much.

These guys again? These aren't "predictions" based on anything factual. They're just theorizing based on what they'd personally like to see. It's fine to imagine, but this should not be taken as any kind of serious rumor upon which OP (or anyone else) should base a buying decision. Side note: their predictions aren't even original; they're recycling the same ones that have been out there for years, and are ripping off others' renderings in the process.

I love the line at 1:51: "Even the people that work for Rolex we know have no idea what's happening...they don't even know when their shipments are coming....But we wouldn't say it's outside the realm of possibility for them to change the movement in the Submariner or the GMT." No shite, Seamus.

do what you want obviously. Im just saying if the goal is building a relationship an AD will always chose the better customer vs the one who doesn't pay retail.

I pay retail on the majority of watches and because of it, got a Patek 5712 after waiting only 9 days from my AD and then i got a Patek 5524 with a 7 day wait. Other people wait for years. Paying retail for my AP's/Rolex all of a sudden was not a bad idea after all. Sourcing those on the secondary market would have cost way more than if i had gotten discounts on the other watches and my AD wouldn't get me the waitlist ones.

It depends on what you want in the future and how much you want your AD to like you. If you dont want impossible to source watches, then it probably doesn't matter all that much.

I had never seen a mockup of a gold green Sub before and with the speculation of the Hulk being discontinued it made sense to me.

Fine, but I would suggest you not present it as a rumor you heard. That just stokes the rumor mill for no good reason.

There was one floating around at least a year ago.

Edit: Wait...there's speculation the Hulk is being discontinued? WTF? Where'd you hear that?

In light of the disclosure you had to sell a BLNR within the last year - and less than a year after purchase - to cover family obligations, I have to question if either is the best way to go right now. I would say that's not my business, but really, your posts in this thread are riddled with indecision and questionable judgment. Perhaps taking a step back and reevaluating your priorities wouldn't be a bad idea. This forum is not the place for that.

I’m good now. Leaning towards the subc and for my 35th next March, I’ll get something more exclusive

Money aside, the lvc is the watch that wins for me in this case.

If you want to wait until your 35th birthday next year to get the Hulk, do that, but don't buy another expensive watch in the interim that is not what you really want - unless you have money to burn and don't really care how you spend it.
Yup this reminds me of a convo I just had with a friend who got a 20% off voucher for a restaurant he doesn't like, nor do I so I won't go, but he feels like he should go for the deal and waste the other 80%.

If the discount plays into making the decision, you can't really afford either watch.

Partially agree. This is just a watch. However, if the 10% discount matters so much, it would be much better to think about the resale value of the watch.

What watch(s) do you already have? I dig the LV a lot but do not think I would want it for a one and only. The LN is a great daily all arounder. I have often considered the LV but to go with two other Subs 114060 and 116613LB. About the time I got serious about buying one, prices went crazy. Dig it but not enough to pay retail or over retail.
